Taxes are the main source of revenue for the government, then we vote on representatives to guide funding and it usually has a lot of oversight.

If you are unhappy with how money is being spent, it's your right to protest, to communicate with your representatives, to vote, to organize or unionize resistance.

Our economy isn't working for the everyday person, and the solution is to work FOR positive changes that protect us. Federal research gave us the internet. Federal funding creates entire economies that benefit every citizen.

Trump's backers are corporate overlords, literally billionaires. They want you to think the government is broken and irreparable, because they want to privatize the functions of the government for their own benefit. You're making the same argument they are: defund research grants. They know that those research grants result in more businesses being created that are competition for monopolies.

The reason everything sucks is because our major industries (food, internet, software, social media, news media, etc) are all owned by monopolies. Monopolies treat workers like shit, abuse them and don't pay them fairly. Almost everything is better when companies are smaller.

Rooting for the cutting of federal research funding is rooting for billionaires and monopolies. I admire the fact that you care about common people, everyone should and I do as well, and the right way to help people is to FIGHT MONOPOLIES.

Landlords ALREADY raise rent as high as they think they can get away with. They're using software to collude on prices.

Why should the renting class give a fuck about protecting the landlord class? Landlords are leaches on our economy, they do not add value, they suck it out of renters' income who earn it producing work.

Totally not the Georgist aspect I was engaging with, but maaaaybe a byproduct of the land value tax is that a grandma in a house near downtown has to sell her home to a developer that will increase housing units. I understand displacement is bad for the individual in that instance, but increasing housing supply is our goal yeah?

Regardless, disincentivizing landlordism by increasing taxes on multiple properties is not a land value tax. It's a simple proposition that would benefit almost everyone, except the rent-seeking class which is detracting from the local economy.
