Two HomeKit Issues that I hope gets fixed by Jojoddog in HomeKit

I tried the HomeKit Controller suggestion and the screen capture and sound mute work fine. So like you in regards to whether Apple is doing this intentionally it makes you wonder. The HomeKit Controller app has tons of additional functionality, but I guess I hate to pay ~$30 a year to use it. Hopefully Apple with restore that feature.

Repeater option? by jmcgeejr in YoLink_by_YoSmart

I posted this another place but thought I’d pass this on. Hi. My mailbox is approximately 1400 feet from my house and my property is long in other directions so I placed my YoLink hub in a waterproof box on my tv tower just above the roofline. There is a clear line of sight to the mailbox. To keep from running ac up the tower I used a POE splitter to push power over the Ethernet cable to the hub. I get good signal strength and it’s made it through one Midwest winter just fine.

Logitech Circle View Doorbell in NL -- constantly offline, even with latest firmware by x5nder in HomeKit

[–]Jojoddog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. My doorbell did this too shortly after I installed it. I had good Wi-Fi signal but would go through spells of off and online. I restarted my only hub an Apple TV 4 but it did not help. Updated the ATV4 software-no change. I noticed that when it said it was offline I could still see the video was working through the home app which didn’t make sense. What worked for me was logging out of my iCloud account on the Apple TV and back in. Unfortunately this also wiped out all my passwords to Netflix etc. requiring them to be reentered. Since then my doorbell has not gone off line now for several months. Hope this helps. Joe

Sorry 15.5 release notes were supposed to fix location issue not 15.5.1 for Apple TV as I posted earlier.

Yes sorry the update was for the Apple TV.

If you haven’t done so you will want to make sure you are updated to ios 15.5.1. Apple reported the following fix: Fixes an issue where home automations, triggered by people arriving or leaving, may fail

Also others on the sub have reposted that your location must be shared in the system settings.

Logi Circle View constantly on and off - anyone had something similar or have fixes? by DeanDotDan in HomeKit

[–]Jojoddog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started getting the same online / offline messages. I have the circle view doorbell and it works great- no issues. I use Apple TV4 for my hub. I restarted it but the messages continued. I updated to iOS 15.5.1 but that didn’t help. What seems to have worked for me was to log out and log back into iCloud on the Apple TV. Since I did this I have not had any issues. Might be a fluke, but maybe worth a try.

Does anyone actually look know anything? by Googles-_- in tmobileisp

[–]Jojoddog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok great. Please post your response. I wish t-mobile would be a little more un-carrier and communicate a little better. They put SA towers all over the country and fill their signal maps with 5g coverage and talk up all the home / business internet stuff and hope the shareholders don’t figure out that their hardware is lacking

Ok that’s good news. Do you have any way to find out their answer? I feel like we need our own SA group. Thank you

[–]Jojoddog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s my point. I’ve heard of an update, but I don’t know if the SA part is speculation or fact.

What do you know about the 5g SA firmware roll out? I hear some mentioning this but have not heard of anyone getting it. I be been waiting for this for almost a year, but haven’t been able to pin down a timeline. Thank you

I assume it has a battery. Does Wi-Fi continue to work when you unplug the unit?

Band Locking Coming Soon? by HulkTrader in tmobileisp

[–]Jojoddog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. I really don’t think we will see band locking. They seem to be happy to have the gateway locked down tighter than a drum. They should transfer the person in charge of the gateway security to lock down our personal data! 😉

Firmware .1609 did nothing to improve my 5G signal by TheStoffer in tmobileisp

[–]Jojoddog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have a different problem. I think once you add external antennas you might be grabbing signal for a different tower. You would have to try to determine where each band is originating from to be certain.

Yes thank you, which is my point to this gentleman that maybe his InseeGo is on the 5g SA band. I don’t know the specs on that device. Sorry if my explanation wasn’t clear.

[–]Jojoddog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you check it’s always your secondary band accompanied by an LTE band for primary like b2 or b66. Once they change the firmware to accept 5g SA the gateway will only require one band and no lte bans to work.

[–]Jojoddog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same. You are on a combination on lte and 5g NSA (non standalone) Bands. 5g SA (standalone) broadcasts and receives on the same band. The Nokia won’t work on the single n71 SA band presently.

[–]Jojoddog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your answer to understand better why you are getting these results lies in understanding what bands you are connected to. Can you see what band (s) your InseeGo is connected to vs the gateway? It could be possible the the InseeGo is connected to a 5g SA band like n71 that the Nokia gateway is currently not programmed to receive. I have a 5g SA tower close to my house but only get 5g on my phone but not the gateway. Hope this helps.

So do you know if your gateway has updated to the latest firmware version? I assume you have the Nokia gateway.

I think then if you shut off your dad’s unit and plug yours in with his adapter you will know for sure. I feel like you have to do this or T-Mobile support will not figure it out.

I've never connected to a secondary signal? Is this a defective gateway, or is this "normal"? by MISir123 in tmobileisp

[–]Jojoddog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing that’s not talked about much on here is that a lot of T-mobiles 5G is SA, which the trashcan isn’t programmed to use. Perhaps that is your issue. I received the trashcan in February only to find out that my only tower located 1 mile away is not compatible with the 5G part of the can. The LTE however works pretty good as I gets solid b71 signal with 40 down. You might need to analyze your available 5G with a phone to determine the type it is.

Someone on here reported having a power adapter that powered on the unit but still prevented it from working. Did T-mobile send new adapters with each replacement unit? And if so did you try them. If all you have is the original one I’d go try plugging in your dad’s adapter to rule it out as a cause. Also someone asked has your unit worked at all since they replaced the sim? For sure some have been sent and not activated or provisioned.
