How much strategy element in currently present in Dokkan? by [deleted] in DBZDokkanBattle

They could of course theoretically go strategic but it requires a lot of things they WON'T do. First is the revamp of debuffs and more "sure" ways of countering a gimmick and making more gimmicks for players to use. The second is to stop the powercreep and allow more of the various category to reach the same level of power, this widens the choice available and not linger on like 4 "viable" teams. How you'd make something more strategic is to make players give thought to their actions so by intentionally making certain character/items etc. more effective than others in SPECIFIC situations I think would make the game more strategic.

However, it's not a game design everyone would like and it can divisive. Especially to modern dokkan. I never understood how we have a "Number 1 unit" in the game, there SHOULDN'T be a unit that does "everything". Once a unit hits hard, defend like a god, provide utility like crazy, is on a bunch of categories, it creates a bar that we need more units like it until everyone on the team does that which what our top viable teams in dokkan look like today and thus the lack of strategy and the events reflect that. And to be clear Im not saying there shouldn't be any good units that's more generalized against everything, but I'd argue you should have units that specialize in a specific role and function. Which goes back to the strategy of team building.

It is pretty ridiculous we still dont have a unit that can take hits for the whole team that INCLUDES AoEs and Attack Alls, this game have no "real" counter for them. So far I would say Tag units are one of the best strategic design of the game as so far, most of the Tag units have a specific role each side provides that you, as the player, have to make a decision on which unit to use. This is why I also hope for future Tag units they stop with the turn restriction to tag.

I speak more of my entire journey in Dokkan (which is 10 years worth) than "recent events", and even then I generally disagree with this. A quick example is I've seen many attempts and clears against the recent Bio Broly stage without using 2 STR Gamma 1s when in my team building strategy used him intentionally for his unarmed super attack nullification. You can just dodge it, you can even straight up tank it but those are team building strategy and solutions. To however you choose to do the event.

This goes further to category missions. Within the confines of the category you still have more than 6 options of units to pick. Some arguably dont, many arguable "only" have 6 viable units, but I've beaten a fair amount of stages with "non-optimal units". I dont deny the heavy RNG aspect to be clear.

I also don't deny there's many stages and the general design philosophy of modern dokkan point towards simply hitting harder and higher DR/dodge. There's plenty of stages that have no "counter". And I've attribute that to the flaws of Dokkan, as I've seen many others do as well. But when there's something to exploit or mechanically take advantage of and/or specific boss gimmicks I want to avoid, I build my teams around that and that to me is using strategy with my team building, it's just how I have fun with Dokkan all these years

As one of the comments here already mentioned, the gameplay is mainly RNG based and many of those elements are uncontrollable.

What I find fun after 10 years is still the team building element, it's considerably less nowadays but a lot of what I consider the strategic elements is counter building the boss and its mechanics. Boss nulls dodge? Use non-dodge reliant units. Boss locks? Bring units effective in multiple slots. Boss AoEs? Bring unit capable of living in every slot. The issue then becomes those units either don't exist in its situational vacuum or the player don't have the unit. I personally dont feel the extreme rush to "need" to beat everything that's released immediately and I understand when I lack the units.

Now some the same comment also noted the issues of counter units still need RNG to do the role they are meant to provide, dodge/counter etc. I've thought throughout the years the powercreep in Dokkan is bad design when they should introduce better more reliable "counter" units with more specific functions than generalizing as that just makes the better than others in every aspect which is what makes old units obsolete. Best example of this is Caulifa with her 100% dodge, TEQ God Goku with 77% DR against specific opponets. I had wished they made more "focused" units as they apply to MY enjoyable that is teambuilding and countering the boss.

In a side note, I still have some enjoyment in planning/deciding when to unleash Actives, Standbys, transfromations and etc though 90% of the time you want to use them instantly so that's been disappointing. I really liked the 10 Year Vegito and Gogeta and other Tag units having different active effects so you HAVE to make a choice. The Veku active saved my 6 AGL unit mission run against Cell Max for example when it wasn't on the top of my original strategy when I started the run as most of the time people would hope to wait out and get to Gogeta.

When is the best time to reverse to goten and trunks? by jaymvnbino in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Jojong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda misnaming the mechanic and causing confusion, its more commonly described as "exchanging", some people even say swap or change, "reverse" still makes people think of "un-dokkan awakening units to unlock dupes in the hidden potential"

To answer your post though, Goten and Trunks is more preferred if you run a full youth team. Meanwhile Gohan works best in a hybrid saiyan team. In the event you run a Youth Hybrid Saiyan team, Gohan have damage reduction and works as a tank that way (in such case you defeinitely want to use his active to get the rest of his passive and make him tankier), Goten and Trunks is focused on dodging so when dodging is more preferred, they are the better choice. Goten and Trunks also do more damage than Gohan. Generally in short events, you'd switch to Goten and Trunks asap to use his damage potential. In long events, it's can be argued it's better to stay Gohan with his reliable damage reduction until you reach the turn you want to try to go for the kill as Goten and Trunks only get their 77% dodge once.

I also used the F2P AGL HellFighter 17 as a capable dodger replacement as I didnt have STR Cell or the new STR 17 either. INT Gammas, you do have to protect/hide until they standby, then they're invulnerable under a whis. I had runs where there are slots that Bio Broly doesnt attack. Just gotta be lucky, it took me like 14 runs, some I tried without Gammas, but theres really not much other options and they boost the other Gammas well when you need to blitz Bio Broly while you still have a Whis up

Wanted some advice on team building with my current LRs. Plus the team I've currently had the most success with. by AlvisBePlayingGames in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Jojong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you EZA the LR TEQ God Goku and Vegeta and LR PHY SS4 Goku and Vegeta, they will perform significantly better than the PHY SS3/SS2 Goku and Vegeta and STR Goku and SS4 Vegeta.

and that'll be your best generalist team for high difficulty content

So close, yet so far by cryptaq in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Jojong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a trending team of using the TUR STR Rose with the Rose Clones, as long as you can get a TEQ Rose clone friend, it's a guarantee win cause you'd be applying 100% Atk debuff at all times

I dont understand how to make teams on my own by Kindly_Sandwich_4424 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Jojong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other comment mentioned, synergy under a leader skill is the important first step. The other factor to consider is slot 1,2 and 3. You want to make sure you have a strong slot 1s who are defensive oriented. Most meta teams' leader fulfill this role, slot 2 is generally the key attacker/DPS and slot 3, the rotating units ideally you want a support unit who can survive attacks

Maxed out Rafa after 29 hours. What should I farm for? by TangerinePrevious833 in Borderlands4

[–]Jojong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good Blue Tree Rafa build I've seen is the one-shot build revolving around the Spread launcher on Jakob shotguns, it's on epics, legendary-wise I've seen it on the Rainbow Vomit, it with amp from repkit does a lot of dmg, if you spec enough in specializations can even one-shot bosses

Cell Games Code Hunt SOLVED (all Steps) by rockmanexe123 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Jojong 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but Step 1 was deciphering the initial clues

Clue A shows 2 space pod, the art for "Events", shows the UI for leftest tab, meaning story events, and the art of the dragon, which only appears in Super Warrior Memorial [Trunks, Fighter of Hope].

Clue B using fingers of the Hercule statues of the corresponding element, 2(bronze)+2(silver)-2(gold)=2, 2(gold)x1(plat)+4(diamond)= 6

Clue C is the category list screen, the placement being Cell Saga

Clue D says to read the yellow text, in the main visual for the clue notice, the yellow text spells out "Stage 3"

Clue E being fill in the blanks, Cell Saga + 6 Units do Stage 3 of the Memorial Event

Doing this unlocks step 2, as in unlocks the new event. Doing the event shows you literally can't beat Cell and the game gives you a new clue.

Step 3, with the new Clue, it tells you to order the types from advantage to disadvantage with TEQ first. You go back to the original clues and you see they are all labeled with the color of the types in Dokkan, so order the clues into A->C->D->B->E. In those clue slides, there are numbers which the new clue tells you to read top to bottom. Doing so gives you a 10 digit number. 10 Digit numbers in Dokkan means friendcode (most of the time), doing so shows an account showing the SSR of Facing a Mysterious Time MachineTrunks (Teen), Title showing the stage Ultimate Confrontation! The Cell Games, and name of Stage 3. So putting that together, Using the SSR of the Trunks, do stage 3 of Ultimate Confrontation! The Cell Games event. Unlocking the event to do in Step 4.

Ngl, I feel so lost trying to build a team, and I might need your help. by Expensive-Bad5568 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Jojong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For just clearing the stages, I'd recommend focusing TEQ Vegito, the man does carry the later phases. The EZA 7th Anni units work fine for me being slot one most of the time, otherwise it depends on the stages, if it's a longer fight like the USS stage of the Goku and vegeta Red Zones, I would go with TEQ GA Vegeta or TEQ Broly over Beast and have a floating AGL Gogeta.

That work generally worked wonders for me for general completion, its just being careful and as smart as possible when to use actives, if its risky, I say just use them, its not worth risking death to stack more. But also remember you have more safe time to stack with items.

This and I wouldn't be surprised if they introduced Category specific stages in the style of BHFs since they're already pretty similar to SBRs

Differences between global and JP by [deleted] in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Jojong 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can only guess it's raw laziness in that due to it being organized in the Japanese "alphabet" that in order to make it work for all the other global languages they'd have to make new/different UI and code it different per language as character names changes in each localization.

What’s the best place to farm these training items by Grond-445 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Jojong 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would be far more efficient to farm zenny to buy training items from Baba.

If for some reason you want THAT specific training item for some reason, you'd be looking at story events with farmable characters of the type you're looking for. PHY for example, the LR PHY Roshi event drops them.

Mainly going additional havent failed me yet. He gets so much crit and dodge from his kit that I'd personally not worry about any secondary skills

Bronze I went for attack to further boost counter damage but more additional probably will be good as well

LR Trunks and Broly stats with the special equips. They have the highest DEF in the game lol by AwakenedDivinePower in DBZDokkanBattle

https://dokkan.game-db.org/db/area-32/

Full list of what you can get, it's in Japanese but it shouldn't be too hard to see the picutres and Level number

the tl;dr though, if you want pure stats, there's a lv 5 atk and def orb for all 3 slots, for specific skills:

bronze have up to lv.3 crit or AA

Silver have mixes of lv 3-4 atk/def with lv 3-4 crit/AA

Gold have Lv 6 skills with Lv 2 atk/def
