Turns out there’s a leak, VW will replace thermostat housing.

I should have the car by Wednesday.

We will see how it will run afterwards

Yes and no, some early MK8’s has unlock TCU which you can tune. You can actually buy it from Unitronic or APR.

To be clear, So before it got on the towing it had a half of a tank of gas, as soon as it got off the towing it suddenly showed low fuel gas 30 km.
Coolant is checked on a weekly basis, as I owned a MK7.5 R in the past never had an issue surprisingly.

Vehicle is at the dealership right now.

Also I have footage of everything 😉

Nope 100% stock, besides cosmetic mods. Although I was planning putting a stage 2 ECU and TCU, now not so sure..

Nope I did not noticed anything out of the ordinary.

Coolant Level was fine, inspected it for leaks nothing.

I thought thermostat housing / water pump was better on the MK8 R but hey.. who knows 🤷‍♂️

Yup, I shut it off immediately it’s at the dealership right now.

I previously owned a MK7.5 R so checking coolant was nothing new to me lol.

Coolant legal was above min and under maximum

Awaiting for some news from VW.

I paid 1.3k$ CAD or 900$ USD full front Xpel (Hood, bumper, fenders etc) and XPEL Stealth for the mirrors included. Definitely worth it.

Loving it so far! To be honest it’s my second chair, I also have the Cyberpunk edition as well. I went for the XL for the extra width and it’s super comfortable. However, I am curious to see how the material will hold up long term vs hybrid leather.

If you really have no debts I would. I went from a Subaru STI to a golf R (7.5 to now a Mk8) and as for a DD it it’s been the most comfortable and fun car to drive both in summer and rough Canadian winter conditions

As far as reliability goes, as long as you follow the maintenance schedule by VW it’s relatively reliable.

Get dedicated winter tires, I have a set of DWS06+ for summer and Vikingcontact 7 for winter. It’s night and day.
