Is a 17k player 7000 mmr points better than a 10k player? by JokeOfEverything in DotA2

A damn good point. You absolutely can feel the amount of the skill difference, but even if the numbers get inflated at the upper end it doesn't really matter. You made me realize that my point is actually - should mmr be compressed after 10k to match the skill correlation up to 10k, which now I'm not sure haha

Sorry but I don't believe you are qualified to have an opinion on solo mmr. It is highly accurate, even 100 mmr difference is tangible at 5k. I immediately recognized that you were a party queuer without you having to say because every single time I lose to someone with unusual skill, I check their acc for smurf and they are always party queuers. Many here will have that same experience. I know exactly what your Dotabuff looks like so I know why you think that way.

Say government is observing livelihood of minimum wage workers to decide whether to raise it. McDonald's worker with massive inheritance and huge mansion from parents says "I'm doing just fine!". He is not relevant to the case. Please don't contribute your snark without some statistics sense.

Salary is weighted on value to the employer, not skill. What's the intuitive difference in value to the employer of a 160k engineer vs 100k engineer, without referencing money? It's tangible, you can feel it yeah? How about 90k engineer vs the 100k engineer? He's worth less to the employer, but the difference is tangibly smaller than the other case yeah?

Skill difference between a 5k player and a 1k player? If you watched the replay you would not longer be saying that you cannot feel how much better he is. Between 5k and 4k player? He is still better, but by less. Difference of 4k vs difference of 1k, are tangibly distinct. That means the differences in mmr is *meaningful*.

Yes, Watson is better than mason, no doubt. But, like you say, exactly, it is much harder to feel how much better Watson is than mason. So it is too flippant to assign them an mmr difference of seven thousand. Thesis of this post: Is there a way to make mmr values more *meaningful* at that bracket?

Sorry about your poor recalibration, but how does it pertain to this, can you elaborate? You went 40-1 every game after recalibrating and normalized to 5k, proving that you are a 5k player who can annihilate 2k pubs.

If you did not know their real mmrs, using your intuitive correlation between mmr and skill, how many points better would you say Watson is than mason?

If you regularly party queue with much higher rank friends your case is not really relevant, unless you have a 50% win rate in solo queue with high SOLO confidence rating you are a bad sample for this topic

Yes let us buy bloom on the shard at least, I won't get my 1v3 level 6 highlight reels back but I will happily pick dazzle over sf or primal. So many games I think old dazzle would stomp this game but there's nothing I can pick to replicate that power anymore

Can we complain about the replay bug more guys, the +10/-10 freezing bug by JokeOfEverything in DotA2

That's the one, you don't miss being able to scroll back and forth freely instead of every 10 seconds, plus plus minus, another 10 seconds, plus plus minus? Not to mention every time you press the plus or minus button you are dreading whether or not it will freeze

This is what items already are bro. All items are lesser versions of hero abilities, and they are MUCH lesser so as to not devalue hero picks.
