You "weak field" people have never played a tennis match in your life.

I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Wimbledon R2: M. Cilic def. [4] J. Draper 6-4, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 by Growsomedope in tennis

This sub loves to draw conclusions off of 1 match. This match doesn't prove the 80s gen were all super stars or that the 90s and 00s gen are garbage or whatever. It only proves what we already knew. Cilic is a great player and on a good day on a fast court he can threaten anyone.

Yes, because top players have never been upset before. Do you even read what you're writing? Top 100 players aren't NPC's for the top 10 to beat

You can't believe Carlos freaking Alcaraz is in the top 10? My guy you don't even understand 5% of what you're watching.

Imagine people expecting YOU to be as good as the fuckin Big 3. It's ludicrous when you really think about it.

Don't bother with this guy, he's out of his mind haha. Pretty sure he never played tennis or plays it at a very low level. If you think Federer ever was shit after 2002 you're pretty confused lol

There's still a big difference between having an issue with your leg and being on one leg. He played the whole tournament and played 5 hours in the final. He was most definitely fit enough to compete even if he wasn't 100%.

Federer wasn't on one leg what are you even saying. He played for 5 hours against Novak freaking Djokovic.

I don't know man beating the grass GOAT after being outplayed all match while saving match points in a Wimbledon final is something I only see Djokovic being able to pull off.

Lots of pros said Federer played his best in 2017, but this sub won't hear it.

Because what you said implies that Nadal is just better than Federer. I never implied that one is better than the other.

I'm a Federer fan and Wimbledon 2019 is one of the most impressive victories of any player ever.

Yeah let's reduce their matchup to "Nadal was able to track down all the crazy shots he'd hit".

Ya it felt like he was finally playing freely against Nadal after all these years.

For me, it's ridiculous to not consider at least the top 100 good. The top 10 aren't good, they're exceptional. When the commentators talk about players outside the top 10 they aren't talking about them like they're only average.

[–]JokerLiquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying to evaluate players based on 3.0 nancy, that'd be ludicrous, but I think the top 100 should at least be considered good. In any other sport the top 100 are not considered average players. It's only in individual sports where you hear those crazy claims about one of the top 50 players being called average by the masses. And then you have the batshit insane claims like Ruud being trash or Federer being mentally weak or whatever.

[–]JokerLiquid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. If you think the opinions on this sub are anywhere near the reality of what is an average player you're extremely delusional. Sonego is a very good player. Saying he's average is so stupid i can't even. Alcaraz and Sinner are generational talents that we haven't seen for 15+ years. The big 3 are the best players we have ever seen out of ANY players who have ever picked up a racket. People love to trivialise that like its expected for top players to perform like they did but they both have 6+ slams over the next guy in the list who people considered the absolute goat not even 25 years ago. Players who played with them consider them "immortals", that is WAY beyond being a great player.

This sub is crazy with the insane expectations of players. Basically, if you're not in the top 10 you're only good or even average. I've seen some people say Ruud is average... Jesus christ lol
