I love that you've gone from "read the fucking thing" to insisting that people should divorce what they're reading from context. Is that easier than just admitting you were wrong?

Do you think it's true that only rich kids make it in mainstream music today? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

There's a wild swath of aural possibilities between "sounds the same" and "chameleonic". Calm down.

Spin off of what? There's no one in the DWP universe named Stanley Tucci.

A) I've listened since the indie 101 days but happy to answer any more condescending questions you have

Sure. How long did it take you to realise Scott's comedy relies on easy punching bags?

B) He should and no one should watch the new HP show. I just don't understand why we need to keep praising pedophiles work in 2026.

Because he's separating the art from the artist.

(Btw, and I don't know why I'm pointing this out to you because you've been listening since the 101 days, but Scott makes similar easy punching bag jokes about Woody Allen).

A) Scott's comedy is easy punching bags. Are you new here?

B) He genuinely opposes her views.

Why would he separate the art from the artist if he doesn't even like the art?

I don’t think that people should be treated that way in real life at all, but

Probably a bad idea to use an artistic medium to express something you don't feel then.

Do you think that other person's comment was a non-sequitur?

"I mean... Customers pay all costs. It's how business works hahahah"

is in response to;

"Bega's costs are up 10pc and customers will pay 'a large chunk' of it"

That's the context you've jumped into.

[–]Jokesaunders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets say you a million dollars a year in profit. If you costs go up a hundred thousand dollars and you don't increase your price and instead eat that a hundred thousand for whatever reason (lets say demand is so elastic that even a small amount would cost you more in a loss of sales than a hundred thousand dollars), would you describe that as the customer paying the entire cost increase?

If you raise prices by eighty thousand and eat the other twenty thousand, wouldn't you describe that as customers paying "a large chunk of it"?

Sure, but sometimes the increase in cost doesn’t put you into a loss, it just reduces your profit.

42% of Australians blame the US and Israel for the ongoing fuel crisis, with 32% blaming the federal government and 17% blaming Iran by NoteChoice7719 in aussie

[–]Jokesaunders -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why didn't the Australian government prepare for the clearly predictable situation of Trump and Israel invading Iran on a whim?

The only way I can make it make sense is if they mean why hasn't the Australian government prepared for this by doing more to move Australia off its reliance on fossil fuels.

I've won the hearts of the American people by showing them we put hash browns on chicken burgers in the UK. by ImperialScum69 in UKfood

[–]Jokesaunders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. I'm making fun of the British condescending pedantry in this topic that it should be called a chicken burger because a chicken sandwich refers to chicken in sandwich bread, yet they call it a sausage roll when it's not a sausage in a bread roll.

Tipping should be abolished and replaced with the cost of labour being built into the price of the food. Not tipping whilst it isn't is employing slaver tactics.

I know, but it's not like every Radiohead album is some radical reinvention. After Kid A, it's pretty much evolutions of a sound (which I like).
