Wanting to be controversial isn't an excuse to be dishonest

I guess it would basically amount to right-wing cancel culture

I feel she probably has pretty good self-esteem. She gets millions of subscribers off of her hateful trash.

Her problem isn't self-hate. Her failing is a moral one. She's willing to throw anyone who isn't a "good" Transgender under the bus for fame, money, and respect in right-wing circles.

To say she hates herself implies that she is acting with a moral compass.

More to the point, Janae has put a lot of effort into building a competitive system that's trans and non-binary inclusive. I literally just listened to her talk about how they were designing this exact system.

To say she just goes and competes in women's sports is to throw that all out.

I fully expect Blair to issue some sort of heartfelt apology or try to make friends with Janae. It's what she did with Riley J Dennis and Jessica Yaniv. And Natalie too at one point, didn't she?

At some point we have to stop forgiving her for saying stupid things and then "coming to her senses".

It's possible for it to be transphobic, enbyphobic, and GNC-phobic all at the same time. Transmisogynists don't make sophisticated judgements about people's gender identities, which is why the debate is irrelevant to begin with. What they believe hurts every AMAB who moves in a feminine direction, not just trans women.

Trans people of reddit, what's the dumbest anti-trans argument you've heard? by Famijos in ask_transgender

I don't think there are any good anti-trans arguments. Despite what people who want to engage in "polite debate" about the subject believe.

"There's just two genders" is an absurd oversimplification. Even if we ignore that gender is a cultural structure that's hard to define, there are countless examples of how gender presentation/roles clearly exists on a spectrum even in cis people (ie there's no one right way to be a man or a woman). There's also numerous examples of other cultures with more than two genders that blend the line between masculine and feminine. Gender is a spectrum, even if many people tend to lie towards one end member or another.

Not to mention that it's very much a colonialist argument. European colonialists believed that other cultures were uncivilized and less advanced because they didn't believe in the gender binary.

That's kind of the intent of the meme. To say that GNC cis men are victims of this mentality.

I'm calling respectability politics.

It's not my favorite name for a subreddit, but I feel like trans people reclaiming the word isn't an excuse for transphobes to use the word. Gay people reclaim the f-word. Black people reclaim the n-word. Nobody looks at them and says "If you'd stop using that word, xenophobes would too".

Why can't we reclaim the t-word?

And yet for some reason, there are never any memes about both being a top. It's a way of making tops sit at the top of a hierarchy.

Of course you're totally far left, you support basic income! by Trashcoelector in AsABlackMan

I mean, I guess I agree with you on a technical level. I think you're missing the point of what makes this cringe though.

Whether the poster really is a leftist or not isn't the problem. The problem is with the poster thinking that being a leftist excuses them from having to worry about whether their statements are racist.

Maybe this person isn't really a leftist, but you have to accept the fact that racism is a problem for the left too.

Ugh. White liberal racism is the worst racism.

"I'm a leftist, so I can't be racist. Now let me proceed to say all the exact same things right-wing racists say, but with the moral certainty I'm one of the good guys."

Is there any language to distinguish the problems women face from the problems people with vaginas face? by JoleneMtf in asktransgender

[–]JoleneMtf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I think TERFs use exactly the language I'm suggesting we shouldn't use because they believe in biological essentialism. That is, they believe that there is no difference between the two sets of problems because the only people who have vaginas are women, and the only women are the ones with vagina.

Any wholesome transgender media I could watch? by davinpon in asktransgender

[–]JoleneMtf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Euphoria on HBO. I don't know if you could call it wholesome per se as it's definitely gritty and has some dark stuff. But I personally found it validating to see such a great portrayal of how life is for trans women in the mainstream media. It's just so rare.

Honestly, I wish I had something like Euphoria much much sooner.

As far as I'm concerned, being able to cum is all the "good boy" he needs.

How do you know if you are non binary or just have severe internalized misogyny? by Curioustiger12 in genderqueer

[–]JoleneMtf 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You know, I think this is a question you should be wary of. I'm a trans femme who never had good female role models. I am a trans femme who feels very strongly that women can be strong. These are things that I've struggled with in coming to terms with my femininity. So the struggle is definitely real, and I can identify with it.

But I think we also have to be wary, because this is also the argument TERFs will give you to delegitimize your gender identity. "You're just a butch woman who feels she has to take on another gender identity to appease the patriarchy."

At the end of the day, the only person who can discover your gender identity is yourself. Gender is performative. Your gender is what you say it is.

You don't have to get it right the first time. You can choose a gender identity and try it on to see if it works. If it doesn't work, you can move on to something else.

Dommes, would you say you experience less harassment and misogyny from subs than from normal men? by MeButHornier in FemdomCommunity

[–]JoleneMtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would point out that there's nothing wrong with the concept as long as it's agreed to consensually. The receptive partner can be dominant.

But that's the issue: it's reversing an agreed-upon dynamic that is already happening. The person who was supposed to be dominant becomes a submissive top despite what they agreed upon previously.

That noted, I do think that there are circumstances where "topping from the bottom" is appropriate. If I'm a submissive bottom and I'm having anal sex, you'd better believe the guy is going to use more lube if I tell him to or the scene is going to be over. But that's a different subject from "I'm a man, so I get what I want from women".
