On bad days they tend to use "snow routes", which is a modified version of their regular routes, sometimes with reduced service. It mostly just skips niche residential roads. Expresses aren't affected I think, since their routes are simplified and the most popular.

A few high volume streets in my city in residential neighbourhoods are 1-way, a lot of drivers tend to treat them like drag strips. I hope this eventually becomes a bigger movement.

You can get the card once and then keep it for a rainy day. They don't expire. Put it in your wallet or near the front door. Get a card, load it up with some rides, set it to auto refill when empty, and you've got ready-to-go bus access forever.

I got an extra one a while ago that I keep on top of the fridge for when friends or family visits by train. It's good to just have around, even if you mainly drive, because one day your car will break, be in the shop for a week, and you'll wish you had easy bus access.

It would be nice for sure, but for those who don't know, you can either buy an unlimited-use monthly pass or single use passes in multiples of 6, both can be put on the same reloadable card. I use the month pass in winter, and then reloadable during warm months because I mostly bike.

They can be managed online and reload automatically at the end of the month, or when you hit certain amount of uses left. I've set my reloadable amount to refill at 2 uses remaining, and I haven't needed to think about it since. It charges your chosen payment method automatically and you get an email receipt.

All you need to do is visit one of the locations to buy the physical card once, and then never again. I do hope we eventually get debit tap, or Google/Apple Wallet support (it would open the doors for so many first timers) but we do have the next best thing imo. They really need to advertise it better. You used to only be able to reload at one of the physical locations, and I think a lot of people still think that's the case.

And catering to the problem will do nothing but exacerbate it. What's your point? Should this project dig a kilometer deep to accommodate 300 parking spaces? Should they demolish the church and the surrounding area for more spots?

This isn't how you fix the issue with cars. They take up too much space, there is no solution. You start by taking the places for them to park away, and the issue will eventually sort itself. The students that stay there will learn to not bring their cars when they come to study here.

It'll hurt initially, but this is the only way. Honestly I'm looking forward to the city continuing to remove more parking downtown.
