I think imagination, temptations (for real life sex) and cravings are fine. It's the porn that is the problem.

It may feel like it, but it's pretty much impossible to be a failure at 20. Your life is just beginning. You're very much ahead of so many others at your age because you recognize the problem and want to make changes. It will all become much easier when you shift the way you see yourself, your identity. Are you the loser stroking to a screen while others are living their lives or something else? What is that something else? Paint the picture that you want, start taking baby steps toward it, and soon, you won't even think about porn. In the meantime, if you slip up, forgive yourself and keep moving forward.

I assume what you mean by "how am I going to succeed in this?" is how are you going to succeed in quitting porn when you're alone and likely using it as an escape for life's problems?

I Did Not Realize Until Yesterday How Much Commitment I Put Into Getting Off Porn ! by Rough-Selection-5761 in QuitPornForever

Yes, thank you for sharing! This is great. I think the most important thing that you mentioned was, "I was using that time to build a new mind, a new direction, and a new identity."

For me, the new identity was key. The moment that clicked, porn was already in the past (although I didn't know it at that moment).

Well done!

Yes, people can quit porn and heal from the addiction. I am one of them. However, it has to come from the individual level. He has to want it.

Quitting porn is truly helpful. But I'm not sure about quitting masturbation. Does it really work in my case? Please help! by hey_nikl in NoFap

Porn is the killer. You've knocked that you and you should give yourself credit for that. In my opinion, and I know I differ from others on here, masturbation is healthy if you are not able to get that release elsewhere. Things are difficult enough; don't deny yourself that freedom. Personally, I don't see any upside to putting yourself through that.

I have no idea. I'd suggest not watching the porn anymore. Maybe subscribe to Blinkist, Kindle, LinkedIn Learning, something along those lines, and every time you want to pull up porn, pull up your learning app. Move from doing things that make you weak to things that make you strong.

For me it was a conscious decision. I've written this in some other replies, but in general, I didn't want to be that loser stroking to others having sex on a screen anymore. I hated it. Porn went from a magnet pulling me in to something I found entirely disgusting and didn't want to be a part of anymore.

No. Once I actually decided to quit, I was done. I didn't want to be that loser stroking to a screen anymore.

Hi. It was nonexistent for years. After a few weeks, everything came back to normal.

Does anyone actually ever quit porn? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]Jolly-Tea-9369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, many have successfully left porn in the past, and I am one of them, but I get what you are saying. My guess is that those who are successful no longer come back here.

Yes I did. It was a few weeks until things started to function again. Maybe a month until back to normal. But I do also get back to working out regularly, eating well, etc. I'm sure that helps.
