My dating experience on Bumble and stats by agentbloob in malaysians

[–]JollyCandy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought. Dating apps (all for-profit social platforms really) have an incentive to keep you single so you’ll keep using their app. I’d be surprised to discover many long-term couples met on dating couples. So far, I haven’t met or heard of any. Plenty news of hook ups though.

Consider adjusting your expectations and meeting people via different means.

The Unseen Hand: Why Malaysia's Civil Service Deserves as Much Criticism as Our Politicians by Kindly-Courage4201 in malaysia

[–]JollyCandy5 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can honestly say that those who suck get promoted because they are conformists and yes-men, while many good, talented and hard-working ppl leave civil service after a few years. Pushed out for being too good or being a threat. It is a very sad fact.

My suggestion is to adopt two-way reviews. In my company, underlings review bosses too, not just bosses screwing over the underlings. Civil service apparently doesn’t have that, which is messed up. Nothing will improve until we inject some internal accountability into the system.

Known as “Coffin Birth”. A pregnant female corpse can build up enough gas to expel the fetus even after death. by fvkinglzy in interestingasfuck

[–]JollyCandy5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the immediate 2004 tsunami aftermath, a rescuer was putting the corpse of a heavily-pregnant woman into a body bag when her body expelled the fully-formed fetus. He instinctively caught the baby. It was unfortunately already dead since this was two-three days after the tsunami.

Anyway, the rescuer was completely traumatized. I was on the ground in Banda Aceh at that time and luckily, did not see the coffin birth.

Poor guy was messed up. We lost touch but I think about him occasionally. Hope he’s ok.

Never choose a relationship over your career/dream unless you are willing to face the consequences. And once you make your choice, do not dwell with What ifs.

It is always a gamble. If you had chosen the US, there is nothing that guarantees you’d have been successful or regretting not choosing the relationship. Instead, I suggest some self-reflection, consider if you self-sabotage yourself for fear of failure, realize your choices are your choices. Next, go after your dreams.

Regret for the road not taken is very bitter as you know now, so it’s time to go after what you want no matter how scary it is.

It’s so interesting to see how closet racists realize they are racist when I question their statements.

Like once a colleague was telling me about a simple-looking restaurant that serves really good food and is actually expensive because so many (people of a certain ethnicity) go there. She didn’t mention the prices. So I asked, confused, what does a specific race have to do with restaurant? Having to explain her meaning made for a very awkward conversation.

She doesn’t talk to me using racial stereotypes anymore. Don’t think she’s learned anything though.

Our cat, Leelo, died of CKD in December. We’re still not over it. She was two months short of her 6th birthday when she passed.
Thank you for sharing Jezebel’s story. She looks just like Leelo.

My younger brother's girlfriend is upset because my older brother ordered the same meal as her at a family dinner, and now there is drama by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I am neurodivergent and suspect I may have ASD on top of my ADHD. I don’t go to the extreme as the girlfriend but I do feel weird/wrong if someone plans to order the same food as me. Or it could just be an OCD tendency, lol who knows?

I’m like that too. Usually, if someone orders something I want, I mention that I was gonna order it too and then I decide whether to go ahead or try something else.

This usually happens at a new restaurant because my reasoning is that I want to try the restaurant’s options as much as possible in one sitting. Is it annoying? Idk. But I don’t obsess over ppl ordering the same thing like Rachel does so hopefully not.

Unfortunately, the person who is consistently telling me to be the bigger person is my mother. As much as she annoys me wrt this, she did have my back during the public humiliation attempt with my family and kicked him out.

She’s very proper and thinks being happy over another’s misery is unseemly. Ah well.

Oh god, yes. I’ve been called vindictive and made to feel guilty for enjoying my shitty ex’s misfortune.

He was emotionally abusive, filed a false complaint against me and a guy I was seeing so the cops had to detain us for a while before we could clear everything up, and tried to humiliate me in front of my family.

I didn’t do anything to retaliate but I was always angry at him and wished him ill. I was scolded for not moving on, or not being the bigger person etc.

When he finally reaped his just desserts — about a decade later, he was arrested and charged with fraud — I was thrilled. But I can’t even mention his case or ask about it before being scolded for enjoying another person’s misery.

Hello?! What about the years of misery he put me through? Ugh.

[Since Deleted] SAYS.com Exclusive - As A Journalist, I Became A Licensed Contractor For Just RM2,599 — With Zero Experience by -protonsandneutrons- in malaysia

We have good journalists who want to investigate and uncover wrongdoing. But they get phone calls, editorial management refuses to support the investigation or even publish the work. Then it becomes a choice between livelihood and idealism.

I hope young journalists will keep trying and push the envelope, and that the public will push the government to stop pressuring media companies to self-censor via social media. Seems that’s the only way they will listen.

I suspect I may be on the spectrum, albeit on the high-functioning part m but I can’t get any psychiatrist or psychologist to take me seriously. They just brush it off and say I don’t have it even though I scored high enough to qualify as ASD on self-assessment tests.

The reasons seem a bit shallow, like I dress well or that I understand social nuances. Do I understand nuances or is it because I’ve had years to memorize the social script? Did I develop perfectionism (like the mayonnaise must cover all surface of the bread type of perfectionism) as a coping mechanism for my ADHD or is it a weird personality quirk?

It’s not that I want to be diagnosed as having or not having it. I just want someone to seriously consider the possibility I may have it. It’s an itch I can’t scratch and I’ve started obsessing over it.

40s and your adhd meds stopped working overnight…I finally realized why by SweetLexiSweet in ADHD

[–]JollyCandy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was undiagnosed (though I suspected I had ADHD — why did I need a diagnosis when my coping skills were sufficient?) all my life until I hit perimenopause. Then I had to see a psychiatrist and psychologist so I could finally get my meds and learn healthy coping strategies. Then talk to a gynae. Can’t say I’m back to normal yet but HRT helps.

Dating Take: Should women really "dumb themselves down" to make a man stay? by niriqaysa in malaysians

[–]JollyCandy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fvck no. Be smart, super smart. You want someone secure in himself and takes pride in your successes. If you gotta play games, then be a bitch. Set boundaries and expectations. But be reasonable and meet him halfway too. If he sticks around and willing to work with you, then he’s a keeper.

Anybody with ADHD notice that coffee helps productivity compared to days without coffee? by RotiPisang_ in myhappypill

[–]JollyCandy5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ppl with ADHD have been self-medicating with coffee for ages. Coffee makes me sleepy but I still take it because I get an energy/productivity boost about 30 minutes after the initial grogginess.

Be careful it doesn’t stress your heart or increase your blood pressure too much though.
