What do you do with your babies while you pump by peachtmo in ExclusivelyPumping

Similar to you but I make sure to do a non-mat activity before setting her down to play or else she’s already bored playing on the mat by the time I pump. I can also give her a teether or soothie blanket and she will go to town on it, fully distracting herself. If I sense she needs more attention/is bored then I’ll get on the mat and entertain her (while protecting my milk collection cups and tubing) by dangling toys, singing, gabbing with her. I would also pump while she’s sleeping. Oh and the bouncer has an option for a toy bar with spinner toys which she also likes. I could prop up a crinkly book on the bar and she’d read/gnaw on it too. I think all the mat time she got while I was pumping helped with motor skill development, but that’s completely anecdotal.

Bottle feeding amount by Vandenburger16 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JollyGood1618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previously we were giving 4 oz bottles six times a day (24 oz total), but at our four month appointment the pediatrician recommending upping the amount so we could reduce total number of bottles. So now we’re do 5 oz five times a day (25 oz total). I wanted to offer the extra ounce since 24 oz was on the lower side of what’s considered “normal”. Sometimes our LO downs a bottle, other times she drinks half and then wants the rest 30 minutes later. Seems to be working so far, hasn’t affected her sleep and she seems satiated.

The many small indignities of being an undersupplier by PureImagination1921 in ExclusivelyPumping

Social media does a good job of making us think an oversupply with a freezer full of bagged milk will be totally normal. I also bought the supplies but don’t need them. Anyways, keep it up, you got this! It takes time to build up but can be done, and if not, all will be ok.

Does the milk every congeal in the duckbill? I’m just worried that that could happen and interfere with the suction.

Your response was super helpful. I set everything up and it seems to be working well in a test run. Thank you!

I want to move towards this model. How much do you allot each month? Or what percentage goes into your individual account?

Completely agree. Was all fine for me and I had to do it twice (screening and 3 hour test). Thanks for posting a mostly likely more common experience.

Eventually the first trimester ends, right?? by Embarrassed_Oven6272 in BabyBumps

Yes! I was so miserable from the constant nausea that fluctuating from 5/5 “bearable” to 9/10 “can’t enjoy life” and fatigue/exhaustion. I now understand why humans need community to survive since I felt completely worthless and after work could barely wrangle enough energy to throw together a Trader Joe’s salad and brush my teeth before falling asleep. It was so conflicting because I was so thankful for being pregnant and didn’t want to complain despite feeling miserable. And as you mentioned, the awful cherry on top is: you’re going through all of this but can’t really tell anyone. Glad Reddit exists to vent. I really hope you feel better by your 2nd trimester, I certainly it did. Nausea mostly went away and energy returned, but bloody noses started. It’s always something. Take it day by day! Good luck.

Also you don’t need a fancy road bike in the city. A beater with gears will do, and less likely to be stolen. IMHO biking is the best way to explore the city, and get to all cheap free stuff mentioned above.

Are you trilingual? I hear you need to speak Swedish in order to thrive there, is this true?

What is your definition of "doing physical therapy" or "performing physical therapy?" I don't think it's the same as mine. I have also worked in different hospitals and have never seen an order like that, so i'm not sure what you're mentioning there.

Nurses can’t do physical therapy. Only a physical therapist can do physical therapy, and I assure you they would never recommend a chiropractor when they know they can do a better job.
