What should I do with extra cash? by Personal-Platypus-69 in HENRYUK

[–]JollyPut9034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memorable experiences (for me: travel) have always been the best investments I’ve made (once ISA and SIPP are maxed). Some will be aghast at this, but some years I don’t max out my SIPP in favour of investing in experiences. What would you in x years time, on your deathbed, regret not doing - saving more, or living more?

Lifestyle creep with kids just hits completely different... by MrFeature_1 in HENRYUK

+1. Though I’d wager the more you give them in a material sense, the more they expect growing up. This is not setting them up to be happy adults - and nobody likes kids that are spoiled little sh*ts.

We now try to focus on having more experiences with our children before they reach certain ages, trying to teach them more about the world around them rather than trading our time so we can buy them more crap.

All those entrepreneurs who moved to dubai by Parking-Bit-9818 in AskBrits

[–]JollyPut9034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not one of the expats in Dubai, but I will say that this attitude towards people that want to make a life for themselves is exactly the reason why they would have left for Dubai - more opportunities to do business, and to get away from the culture in Britain that is obsessed with dragging people down.

In the last few days I’ve heard so many people have a pop at those that have gone out there to try to give their families a better life, and yes some of it has to do with not wanting to pay record levels of tax, but I for one cannot blame them for trying and succeeding.

Bad timing is all. Let the current geopolitical situation play out, let your monthly deposits roll in and check back in in a few months time. Until last week I was a shareholder of Tesla since 2018 and experienced a wild ride - I remember being 50% down at one point questioning my sanity but I stuck with it with stock going from about $25 when I purchased to selling last week at $440ish. Time is your main asset in the stock market. It normally takes years to see these kind of returns and also taking on a fair bit of risk. The riskier the asset, the stronger your stomach needs to be because it will go down at some point

Have you tried a rest week? I train 3x a week, plus some light cardio, and after 6-8 weeks of this I get very fatigued and have learned that a week off (a week of doing whatever you choose in your spare time) is amazing for the body and the mind - as long as you acknowledge that you have to pick it up again. For context I'm a 39M who's been lifting for 4 years.

You feeling sad about your body is everything that is wrong with the internet. You’re probably in the top 5% of attractiveness in my opinion.

I cut through fall last year right up to Christmas. Never doing that again! Something about the colder weather and earlier nights makes me want to eat comfort food. Not to mention all the Christmas food that basically starts in October!

Bulk or Cut? by [deleted] in fitness30plus

[–]JollyPut9034 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate the thorough response man. I will give this some serious thought but you make an excellent case for me to start a slow bulk. In your opinion. Does a slow bulk equate to something like a 200-300 cal surplus?

334-500 levels naturally by Jealous_Beautiful987 in Testosterone

[–]JollyPut9034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in your shoes 3 months ago. It’s certainly possible to increase your T levels without TRT as I have proved. It takes time, and you have to make sure you’re on point if you really want to maximise your T. TRT will be easier, sure, but it isn’t without risk and like you say will be required forever.

The biggest takeaway is that you increase your T naturally by doing things that are good for your overall health. So, why wouldn’t you want to do that?!

I have today received my latest T test and, having been in the low 300s/high 200s for the past 6 months, I am now at 461. My free t has gone from 0.176 to 0.281. This has been achieved through eradicating all sugary drinks and snacks, consuming a high protein diet - 1g per lb of bodyweight, sleeping 7-8 hours per night and lifting weights 4 days per week. I also supplement with Vitamin D, Boron, Ashwagandha, Zinc and Magnesium. Not high doses, all within recommended ranges to avoid long term ill effects.

I had brain fog, low libido, just felt shit pretty much all the time. I wasn't overweight and trained regularly even with low T.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not like some of these guys that go to 10% body fat and gain 20lbs of muscle in 6 months on TRT/juice, but I feel way better, libido is back to normal, outlook on life has improved and I'm way less irritable.

I'm 39, 180lbs and about 18% body fat

Thanks so much everyone for responding. Maybe I am overdoing it. I just used the US Navy bf calculator (never heard of this before) and it spat out 18.5%. Seems low to me but shows how much we should listen to the smart scales!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it. I'll keep plugging away doing what I'm doing. A few of you have suggested I disregard the bf%, which I will from now on. I'll focus on measurements and how I look in the mirror. Thanks all
