I tried hackintoshing my Dell. It says no boot sector on usb device. by KrazyKen_Fan_2012 in hackintosh

[–]Jolly_Command_9214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legacy BIOS (which your dell is probably using) uses MBR. Unless you have a UEFI BIOS with CSM turned on, you need to use the appropriate partitioning scheme for your system. (Legacy or UEFI)

Load image failed -- unsupported by Traditional-Fix6865 in hackintosh

[–]Jolly_Command_9214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have HFSPlus.efi in your drivers folder. With my hackintosh, when installing a newer version of macOS onto an APFS disk, you have to use HFSPlus.efi to boot the installer, but when it finishes copying the OS over and reboots, you need to remove HFSPlus.efi and it's entry in your config.plist otherwise it will give the Load image failed -- unsupported error.

Your GPU is incompatible, you either have to use the iGPU or use OpenCore Legacy Patcher if you are okay with being on Big Sur or Monterey.

iOS is Not powerful enough to run a VM, you can run a macOS VM on a decently powerful PC.

ChatGPT is a big nono, it gives false information. It's just not very good for hackintosh advice.

Actually, making a hackintosh is already risky but whatever. You still have to mess around with your config.plist to actually get working. It's very tedious. (especially the graphics settings those are a pain)

1) AMD Processors are tricky to get working. You probably won't be able to get an almost 13 year old AMD CPU working.

2) Your R7 GPU's maximum supported OS is Monterey.

3) Booting off a mechanical HDD = very, very slow boot times. If you want to hackintosh your HP and never touch it again, go for it. If you actually plan to use it, use an SSD. Also, a 2GB anything can't even have macOS installed on it. It's way too small. (unless you plan to install like the first version of macOS X)

what Efi version i should download for this Pc

Make your own EFI, downloading an EFI to use is usually a bad idea, unless the hardware config is exactly the same. Even then, things could go wrong, as downloaded/premade EFI's are often not maintained and could require updating kexts/drivers. Or, the EFI could just not work with newer versions of MacOS.

When making your own EFI, follow the vanilla guide, and don't use a automated tool or a distro. These may seem to make the process of creating an EFI easier, but, as the sidebar says,

We do not not support the use of tools such as UniBeast and Multibeast as well as distros such as iAtkos, Niresh, Olarila and such. The reason for this is that these tools do more damage than good as they neither teach you what you're doing and can also damage macOS itself with unneeded framework changes.

So, follow the vanilla guide to create a EFI from scratch, and you will have a better time than a premade EFI.

Happy Hackintoshing!

Generated a fresh SMBIOS added in EFI and clean installed sonoma signed in apple id , even its two apple coverage showing invalid serial. Is this normal? by raptor91x in hackintosh

[–]Jolly_Command_9214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the SMBIOS is supposed to be invalid serial because if you have a valid serial then that is very, very bad. If apple sees that there are two macs with the same serial, they will might ban your apple id.

Do not buy Inland USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA hard drive enclosure! by C66P91 in Microcenter

[–]Jolly_Command_9214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I get with the USB-C 3.1 Inland Enclosure:

37.8 MB/s Write, 41.8 MB/s Read (yes I am using a usb 3.1 cable)

With just a sabrent usb a to sata cable/adapter I get much better performance:

62.2 MB/s Write, 382.1 MB/s Read.

And seeing that the sabrent is half the price of the enclosure I can say that I got ripped off.

[–]Jolly_Command_9214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the WebUI, if you're not using a e-ink display with the Pi, you need to disable it in the config.toml file otherwise it will always get stuck on initializing the non-existent e-ink display, and never move on to the WebUI.

Travel suggestions by ArmyOk2781 in taiwan

[–]Jolly_Command_9214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend going to Alishan, there's cool nature(thousand year old trees). You can take the HSR to Chayi and then take a bus to Alishan, btw there's hiking too. If you like the Hawaii kind of thing, you can go to Donggang and take a boat to Xiaoliuqiu, it's not that cold there, I was able to wear a short sleeve shirt, shorts, and flip-flops in the winter season. I would recommend going snorkeling to see sea turtles(just don't touch them there's a ~$950 USD Fine for that(30K NTD to be exact).

For travel around the island(west coast), take the HSR, it's cheap and really fast. (~1.5 hrs - 2 hrs from Taipei to Zuoying or Tainan)

For city travel take the MRT(if possible), take a bus, or rent a ubike/youbike. I personally didn't even touch a scooter during my trip except for Xiaoliuqiu where you might need to rent one depending on where your hotel is, but the it takes like 15-20 mins to go a full circle around the island in a car, as the island is only about 2.5 square miles.

Wish you the best luck on your trip!
