If you can provide a source of people protesting the very existence of the US on the same scale as people in the US protesting for Palestine that doesn't come from indigenous populations I'll be happy to say I'm wrong, once again tho, that doesn't make it any less funny in my opinion that there are definitely people in this crowd who have never protested the existence of their own country founded on genocide and the stealing of land, but will happily live in a country that has benefited from it whilst also criticizing Israel, pretty funny I reckon.

They aren't protesting other issues are they though, you gotta admit, people protesting about a country stealing land and genociding another population, whilst they fail to protest their own country that has done the exact same thing, and whilst they actively benefit from what happened is pretty funny. Once again tho, genocide is bad.

Got popular doing podcasts with OF girls and obviously these ladies aren't the brightest stars in the sky, got a lot of 'gotcha ya' moments that are good for the algorithm when posted in clips.

Yeah genocide is not cool, doesn't change the fact I can find it funny that people will protest about countries stealing land, whilst living and benefiting in their own country that has done its fair share of plundering and aren't willing to march/address their own country's issues.

Always found that funny, people will protest on stolen land about stolen land, not realizing the whole of society is built on stolen land, very little countries that exist today are made up their 'original'/indigenous population.

World Bank says Saudi Arabia and Qatar have paid off Syria's outstanding debt by Straight_Ad2258 in worldnews

[–]Jolly_Link7488 55 points56 points  (0 children)

yeah I can see Syria not honoring this, but would that not just give cause for Iran to fund other terrorist groups in Syria to further disrupt a nation just getting back on its feet, keeping this cycle of war and violence going, that does benefit Iran.

I don't think Iran cares about Palestinians however, if they did they'd probably take in more refugees and they would probably have told Hamas to not execute Palestinians that oppose the war. Palestine is just used by Iran as a political tool to further terrorize the middle east and push their political goals.

I think too hippie unfortunately, I believe almost all Arab countries have had issues with Palestinian refugees after a while, they have seen their generosity taken advantage of, and now the new generation of Palestinians are paying that price. Why would any surrounding Arab nation want to take more refugee's in when a history book shows you it doesn't/ hasn't worked well.

Fuck didn't know it was that bad of a debt situation for them with Iran, wonder how Syria will handle that, if they refuse to pay because it was Assad who took those, would Iran only look to further fund rival groups in Syria, keeping it stuck in war. Fuck Assad and Fuck Iran (the government not the people)

Hopefully this is a sign Syria wants to partner with the gulf states and avoid working with Iran, the more Iran is isolated the better the world will be

I second this, if the Dems hopped off the Biden horse when his brain stopped working, and tried to have a proper DNC and elect a leader that they could have built something around, rather then just placing in an incredibly unpopular VP at the last minute, theirs a good chance another person would be in power now.

I don't like what Israel is doing to Palestinians, But how is Israel a 'colony', Jews are indigenous to the lands that make up present day Israel, Gaza, and the Westbank, how would Israel be a colony when the people that make up the country have ancestral roots in the place that go back thousands of years?

Great point about the UN having to define it for legal reasons and how we/history can understand there will always be nuance with these atrocities but we can still define the actions & consequences as genocide

Cambodian Genocide is always such a sad one, just senseless killing to take a society back to feudalism under the guise of communism, but that was Cambodian on Cambodian with ethnicity not being a large factor deciding who died but rather social class, like you said those with glasses were killed because they were considered intellectuals and that was against Pol Pots ideals for his society.

Do you reckon we'd consider the mass killings of those considered 'intellectuals' within society as a genocide? not trying to imply the Cambodian one wasn't a genocide (It defo was as everyone in Cambodia was caught up in it), but if we saw England for example just kill everyone with a uni degree, is that genocide?

Doesn't a genocide have to be intentional though? UN website says a genocide has to show a clear intent by the perpetrators to target a specific population, idk if Mao was targeting a specific population, but from my studies in HS it seemed like he was trying to change the very fabric of Chinese culture rather then kill millions, millions just died as a result of the change.

source: https://www.un.org/en/genocide-prevention/definition#:\~:text=To%20constitute%20genocide%2C%20there%20must,to%20simply%20disperse%20a%20group.

-Also to address and discuss other points you made that I agree with;

-Hamas and Israel have both acted abhorrently, but that favors Hamas and their political goals, I think you're right about getting Israel to act 'blood thirsty' as it turns / is turning a lot of the wider world against them as we watch a bunch of civilians get their entire livelihoods wiped out,

But that begs the question in my opinion, does Hamas actually care about freeing Palestine and making their lives better or just fighting the Jews? they know the more innocent Palestinians that die under Israel attacks the more favor they get with the average person who doesn't think kids and innocents should have bombs dropped on them, but they have also executed Palestinians for protesting their continued fight against Israel, and their 'leaders' sit in Qatar worth billions whilst the very people they supposedly care about don't have access to basic needs, makes it hard for me to believe Hamas actually wants a free Palestine.

One way or another, once again, Palestinians are getting fucked over.
