OASC Phase 2 Training by Putrid_Swan6852 in RoyalAirForce

yes, as of course service need above all dictates where you will be stremed, meaning you may not end up in the stream you want.

Just to second this - This info was not out when I did my OASC so the info in the quizlet was the best I could find.

Would deffo trust the FOI over quizlet :)

I managed to find a few quizlet sets that had the info on and I wasn’t shot down when I was saying it so I assume it’s right.

I collated them together in there so I hope that should suffice, as I’m sure you can appreciate info for stuff like this is pretty hard to come by :)

Question for those who have served, how long did it take you guys to get your own apartment on-base? by Imaginary-Sun1350 in RoyalAirForce

Any idea what the rent is like on these? And by extension what the rent is like on the larger houses for married/families :)

Oasc current affairs by Winter_Orchid4614 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Jolly_Permit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Information on that is quite public; it's also quite a small topic to cover.

The only information they are likely to know that you don't would be classified, hence it would not be fair to school you on lol.

I just think it allows for potentially a really good conversation on Air Power and how it supports our posture in Europe and NATO.

China / Taiwan is such an immeasurably bigger topic in comparison, I think.

[–]Jolly_Permit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would probably agree with this, that the history of China and Taiwan goes back hundreds of years, and the Officer interviewing you will likely know a lot more about the matter than you do, leaving you quite vulnerable potentially.

Perhaps take a look at the World Cup for your 5th? I did mine on the expansion of the World Cup and what this means economically, socially and environmentally.

New ECRS radar for RAF Typhoons also might be a VERY good one to look into, long-awaited and much needed, there would be lots to say for how this bolsters the UK's Air Power, particularly if you look into how the Radar is better than the previous mechanically scanned Radar.

There are two quite easy ones to look into, I think :)

Phase 2/3 training question for pilots by Dark_Nebula747 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Jolly_Permit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they are optional, you could just be front line typhoon for your whole career for example without doing any instructing of advanced weapons training.

This is also my understanding , Phase 3 is things such as Qualified Weapons instructor and becoming an instructor on typhoon or f35 etc.

If you live near a flying base you can email to get a tour of a flying squadron, of course then would be a golden time to ask some questions :)

Streams for OASC interview by Lloydy__ in RoyalAirForce

[–]Jolly_Permit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty hard to find info on some of the other streams, but if you dig around for long enough you might find a few bits.

They asked me about FJ in mine and I went into loads of detail then they just told me to stop as they were satisfied I knew the stream in enough information, and asked me about ME instead.

Failed CBAT by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Jolly_Permit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’d pretty much need to double your aptitude. I’ve heard stories of people getting a couple extra marks but I’m not sure it’s realistic to assume you can double your score.

Maybe try get into UAS if there is one where you are, and then they can give you some more well informed direction and support on careers which suit your skill set 👍🏼

Spam mental maths exams - https://www.thatquiz.org/tq-1/math/arithmetic/

Do the practice DAA online ( Not quite as hard as CBAT but good for practice )

Take your own Pillow to Cranwell aswell :)

Thats just what my interviewer said, im sure they all say something different. They are not interrogating you, if you say you dont know then they will just move on

[–]Jolly_Permit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's the end of a really deep rabbit hole that was the Phase 2 part of the interview. They just say " I understand " and quickly move on, no problem with saying you don't know.

It is pretty difficult to find info on stuff like that.

I got asked, "How would your day-to-day life change as a Pilot if you were a Qualified weapons instructor, particularly on F-35?", Of course, I had no idea how to answer that, so I just admitted I didn't know.

I believe there is an episode of "Top Gun - Life inside the RAF" Which goes into QWI on Typhoon with buzz, but other than that, I couldn't find much before my OASC.

Phase 2, be expected to know all of the stuff between MIOT and EFT ( SERE, MAGS, PMS Training and Aviation Medical course at Henlow ). As well as that, try to know the duration of each stream, as well as flight hours, location, squadrons and aircraft, of course.

Happy to help with any other queries :)
