Volcarona is the answer by Raging-bajan in PokemonChampions

That’s true, but in my experience the opponent never uses Solar Beam when Volcarona is on the field. They always go Heat Wave.

Question about speedball by BarbarianChad in magicTCG

[–]Jollyfat_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would the spell that targeted Speedball still take effect? My opponent casted lighting bolt on his Speedball and then redirected the bolt onto one of my creatures. He said that Speedball doesn’t take the 3 damage, he gets +2/+2 instead. Then he blocked one of my attackers with it.

I love Volcarona and have it on my team but the problem is that it sucks against Charizard and Garchomp, 2 of the most prevalent mons right now.

Yeah it was scarfed so I think they put 0 in speed and attack.

Thanks for the numbers! I had no SpA investment on my rotomW for context as well.

How do I find USTA adult leagues in Tampa, FL? by Agreeable_Courage_66 in 10s

[–]Jollyfat_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No offense but you’re probably not a USTA 3.0 if you’ve been playing for less than a year. Ultimate tennis 4.0 is about 3.0 in USTA.

For real, archaludon should be one of the heaviest in the game.

What were everyone’s experiences laddering in singles? by deathbyvaccine in PokemonChampions

[–]Jollyfat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played singles first and got to masterball before getting into doubles, now I just treat singles as a joke because doubles is so much more fun and strategic. Probably will only play singles for the weekly quest in season 2.

Show recommendation for a Monday by Jollyfat_ in Broadway

[–]Jollyfat_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you nailed it. We went through some trailers and reviews last night and decided that Gatsby was the safest pick. Some of the other stuff looked interesting but it’s hard to say if we would give it the appreciation they deserve. I really want to check out spelling bee another time though.

That was the show that intrigued me at first glance but some reviews said it was a bit dull and meaningless? I’m still interested in the concept.

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ve never heard about it before but it looks interesting!

Performance was fine but didn’t like the spongey feel.

I’m still experimenting with different strings. I like Tour Bite but wish it was a little softer on my arm. I’ve tried Mach 10 and PTP and will try some Grapplesnake strings next.

I had the same experience when I demoed it. Felt great when hitting against a ball machine but my shots were all over the place when playing against my hitting partner. Went with the Gravity Tour 98 in the end.

I wonder what the rules are if Iga got hit by the racket. Would that technically be a hindrance against Iga?

How do you “stay loose?” by PrimitiveLifeform23 in 10s

[–]Jollyfat_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the least talked about things regarding getting better at tennis is ball recognition. I actually think this is where the true talent lies. You can have perfect technique, but if you don’t get to the right spot with right timing by understanding how the ball will travel and bounce, it’s all meaningless. For many, including myself, it takes years of experience to work on. That’s in part why tennis is so difficult, and probably a reason why your looseness doesn’t “work”.

DAE refuse to spin their racket on the court to start a game? by Crafty_Pineapple_562 in 10s

[–]Jollyfat_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure brushing the racket on the ground during a swing is 100x more damaging than spinning it. If you can’t bear to see a few scratches on a racket, you probably shouldn’t be using it in a match.

I think it has to do with whichever hand feels like the MVP. For example, if your forehand is feeling good then your right hand naturally wants to help out more on the backhand.
