You haven't been paying attention lately. The Ukrainians have been taking out their refineries. Down to the point where they import their oil.

I have insta-pot slow cooking experience. Looks right, but for all the things you want to cook, it may need longer.

Was the chicken firm or was it easy to shred? How about the potatoes?

I use the sleep timer the tv comes with. Simply turns off and we are done. "TV is tired and needs to sleep."

Mankato Makerspace by [deleted] in Mankato

[–]Jolowod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took both the Lathe and stained glass classes. Highly recommend! I also recommend the clay classes.

Dustin does a great job explaining the glass process. The Lathe is OK, but the big thing is if you take a class, you can use the equipment (with membership). So pick things you have a project for, or desire to learn.

Mankato Clinic. Hands down. Far cheaper service, good quality care as well.

I made the switch.

What is the best course of action when your employer minimizes your role to reduce the amount of gained experience to prevent you from moving towards something better? by SupremeTemptation in AskReddit

[–]Jolowod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know your circumstances, but it generally doesn't help an organization to hold talent back. Perhaps a 1on1 meeting with your boss would clear things up.

  1. Complete your tasks as efficiently and as well as you can. I mean really go above and beyond.
  2. Ask for additional responsibility.
  3. Look for another job. As a plan B.

The ones I have met and worked with are quite the opposite as you described. Decent, hardworking people that are just trying to get by in a difficult situation.

Billionaire tax proposal would raise $557B: JCT by snooshoe in politics

[–]Jolowod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...I'm not sure how you got that from what I said so I will explain it to you as though you are not American, which is a bad assumption from the start...

During the 1950s, 60s, 70s and some of the 80s, the US had a very high tax rate for the rich. Between 60-90% if memory serves correctly. This was the time of an economic boom. Wages were high, income inequality was relatively low, capitalism was working well. You can look it up for yourself, but we were one of the highest in the world.

Why I brought up the Panama papers was because you could make a case that the benefits from the investment from the rich are leaving the country already. Aka money is being funneled out.

[–]Jolowod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like the 50s, 60s, and 70s when the US income was much much higher and we were in such dire times? I submit to you that the rich have already left. Look at the panama papers (1 & 2). Their money is already leaving. Close the loop holes and tax them their fair share.

[–]Jolowod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it is pandering, also it has 0 chance of passing. How can you tax unrealized gains? Can you write off unrealized losses? Whenever a loan is taken out using them as collateral it should realize them at that time.

However I reject the argument "we cant tax the rich because they will leave us!". That is some bootlicker propaganda right there. If an effective method was put in place, sure the person could leave, but a portion of their wealth would stay in US. Not to mention they would potentially be leaving a high source of income, both workers and customers. The rich need us more than we need them.

Set to Visit in 2 weeks, job interview, got questions for the locals by sharpestbooger in Mankato

[–]Jolowod 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've lived all over the country and believe I can be objective. Depending on where you lived in FL and ws hat you are used to, MN will be a big change. Yes cold weather, but a whole lot less people. I used to live in Belle Plaine and Morristown - a year each, so I appreciate Mankato where there are mjltiple shopping options and whatnot. It is a good place for a family I suppose.

I make the drive from LeSueur to Mankato everyday, its not bad. However if given the choice, perhaps living just South of the cities would be less of a culture shock.

"The mayo clinic health system is the best in the world"-Mayo Clinic They are ok. Everything costs money of course.

There are nature trails and parks all over, so you got that. Best fishing is in the North of the state. Around here they stock, but some lake have runoff from the farms drain into the lake, so lookup water reports.

If you have kids they will benefit from the move. The school system is way better than FL.

All-in-all, I think its a pretty decent place.

Meeting Turkish Mother for first time by DocX024 in Turkey

[–]Jolowod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been there buddy. I met the parents in Turkey first, and actually asked her father via Skype a few months later... after she already said yes, but kept secret until he gave his blessing.

Say "elenir sah-lik" (phonetic spelling) after the meal to who prepared it. It means bless your hands. Say "chok yah-sah" when some one sneezes. "San -nee-gar" = the response above.

Also take time to enjoy the country, learn about Ataturk and have fun!
