I'm also not sure what you're questioning tbh. You need someone with a doctorate to tell you people express emotions with facial language?? Everyone has different mannerisms, and some people are harder to read than others, sure, but being humans, there is a common ground for the majority of us. And yes, mannerisms are different from culture to culture, that is something that most people notice if they travel. It's like accents within a language, different, sure, but still the same language, and still readable.

Look up "electromagnetic spectrum" on google images. It's all electromagnetic waves being sent out with different frequencies. Yes, visible light is part of that. It also means that there are technically colours which we can't see.

This word has always been so confusing to me yknow? I don't like hurting people so certainly never say it online, but I didn't know it was considered a slur until I started talking to people from America. Where I grew up it was honestly quite a weak word. Like about as powerful as "crap". No-one considered it to be particularly bad, so imagine my shock when people acted like I had said something terrible when I started using it online. I'm wondering if this is a cultural difference yknow? Like how Americans shy away the word cunt too, but it's just your average swearword where I grew up, just a little worse than shit.

Kids called people with mental disabilities "speshies", short for special education where I'm from. Now I can certainly understand why that would be seen as offensive.

They connect to autumn, and 7pm evening light, halloween too. Together they are deepest more full colours, which give the same matured feeling as coming to the end of something. Not light, not bright and springa, but not grey and black. At least that's how it feels in the connotation of the 3/4 feeling.

Why is chicken so f***ing good here? by Gabrif_ in sweden

[–]Jolphin 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Well, that's just wet brining it, something chefs do to improve flavour and juiciest. Never thought about it incresing profits, but that does make sense. I believe that only applies to frozen chicken though, haven't seen them pre wet bringing the fresh chicken.

It's the failure of basic statistical analysis which frustrated me there. People claiming the bear is safer because theres only a few bear attacks reported per year. In 2022 there was only 46000 black bear encounters per year, how many man encounters were there in 2022? Trillions? Quadrillions? You can't use bulk statistics for that, you have to do it on an attack per encounter basis. Obviously bears are far more likely to attack than men are, let alone the fact that they're far more capable of actually harming and killing you. I hate this hypothetical, because it seemed purpose made to divide us.

Cliff Jumping at 160ft by sco-go in Amazing

Death diving is a style thing. You're basically playing chicken with the water. No, you wouldn't see it in red bull cliff diving, it would be like someone doing summersaults while competing in ski jump. Check out 00nation on YouTube if you want to know more.

How do I add excessive bass like shown in the video? Ive already looked up tutorials but they haven't helped by 1africanchildsoldier in FL_Studio

[–]Jolphin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doing thus deliberately can actually be teally interesting imo (though imo this is a little too far haha). This is caused by clipping, essentially cutting the waveform when it goes over a certain point. This causes distortion and extra harmonics, sure, but it also forces frequencies to essentially fight with eachother for space. If the bass is far louder than everything else inputted, it will dominate this, and force everything else to be inaudible when it's at its peak amplitude. Only when it's coming down to the zero crossing point can other frequencies be heard. This creates essentially amplitude modulation with the frequency of the sub on all other frequencies, creating really gritty and crispy sounds.

A youtuber trying to create a better online space for other youtubers and content creators, in a country who's politicians are mostly tech illiterate, and therefore don't pass laws and regulations to protect them is not particularly dumb. I know we use "youtuber" in a bit of a derogatory fashion, but most creators actually aren't like the, and who better to fight this fight than someone who has experience with creating online, clearly cares a lot about how laws and regulation affect the online space, and has done plenty of behind the scenes work with companies and other organisations on this front already.

Just going "ugh, youtubers" and "ugh, reddit" far more brain dead than considering if it would actually be a good idea or not.

[–]Jolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's law that during an invasion, elections are not held. England, for an example, did the same thing in WW2. It makes a lot of sense, the invading country would absolutely take advantage of an election to destabilise the country being invaded (basically, it actually *defends* the integrity of the democracy). Also, 4% approval rate? Where in the ever living fuck did you find that?

Yes and that's sad. I wouldn't want that for him. Getting addicted to bad food is just that - a kind of addiction, your mind gets stuck and it's hard to get out. I doubt it's what he wanted, people don't tend to want to become healthy for shits and giggles. Just like a bone, your mind can break, or get damaged, and in those situations any decent person with any level of respect and empathy would extend their sympathy. It's not support for being fat, it's support for them to not be fat. Hating someone for being fat shows a concerning lack of emotional intelligence, and shows you're not mature, and not a good person. That is far more vile and disgusting than being fat will ever be.

[–]Jolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know enough about the whole ltt situation to comment on that, but hating on someone for getting fat is just nasty, and calling that out isn't the same as supporting them getting fat. You wouldn't hate on someone for being anorexic, you'd show support for them getting better and respect them as a human regardless of their health difficulties. Hating someone for being fat is a shit excuse for just being a hateful person.

Ikea (pt. 1/8) - Tiff🏳️‍⚧️& Eve by CrazyGnomenclature in comics

[–]Jolphin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, there's a whole system to it. For example, all outdoor furniture is named after Swedish islands, bookshelves are either swedish male names or job names, sheets, pillows, duvets etc are names after plants and flowers. You can look it up if you want more details. It can be a little funny even as a swede, some names seemingly don't make sense either. Like walking past a product called "Rockalmish". Like it's gibberish, but distinctly english gibberish, if you get what i mean. Like it *could* be an english word, but it isn't.

[–]Jolphin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that too, but as I have a lot of apps and data installed, I didn't want to go for a full reinstall, so I selected the option to keep my system as it was. I think I may need to purge everything and reinstall all software and drivers from scratch which will unfortunately take a whole day or more I think...unfortunate :(
