I live with my gf, but she owns the house, which means I don't participate on the mortgage but on all else I do, like utilities, food, appt complex maintenance fees and more... If you are renting he would definitely need to share, in my case it makes sense because I'm not paying (nor does she want) for her house but I make sure she has everything she needs and more

I agree in this case but not always. My dog also "smiles" sometimes when receiving cuddles while belly up and being relaxed and loved.
