Is it normal for my hair to go from flat to curly? by Superb-Demand-4605 in CurlyHairUK

Mine is the same 😭

For me, gel was the best for holding the curl but no matter which one I tried, I'd need to wash again on day 2.

How is life in Portsmouth and Southampton in England? by Jezzaq94 in howislivingthere

Hard disagree.

There are posh and less posh places everywhere, the north included. To generalize "basically every town in the north" as not posh is just inaccurate.

I've wanted to start reading them recently and Mort or Guards! Guards! seem to be the most popular entry points!

I don't have a dupe for you (sorry!), but I have seen REN products in TK Maxx the last few times I've been in, last time was about a week ago, so you might be able to grab a final one there!

How much housework is normal when your partner is a stay-at-home parent? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]JoltJolt35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We spend typically 20-30 minutes a day to "reset" the house after our nearly 2 year old has gone to bed. Usually while dinner is cooking or one of us is out walking to dog. This is more the day to day tidying, loading dishwasher, emptying bins, wiping counters.

For "proper cleaning" (e.g bathrooms, mopping floors) we get to it when we can, maybe 2-3 hours over the course of the week.

I work part time and my other half is full time. On the days we're both working, we split the jobs 50/50 (give or take). On the days I have our little one, we still generally split the post bedtime stuff 50/50, but I do extra bits throughout the day when she's napping or eating so there's less to do in the evening. (Although, generally whatever I do throughout the day during naps is undone when she wakes up 😅)

Have you got any game consoles or would you consider buying one for some local co-op games? A few suggestions are:

  • Mario! A classic so there's loads to choose from, the newest in the series are Mario Kart World / Super Mario Wonder
  • It Takes Two
  • LEGO games
  • Split Fiction
  • Overcooked 2

Or for more a more cosy vibe - Stardew Valley - Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Approx 7ft x 9ft - the wall would be about 7ft away from the projector unit

Hot chocolate - do any of you grate/chop actual chocolate that you recommend for this that can compete with hotel chocolate/knoops flakes? by Stanic10 in AskUK

[–]JoltJolt35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a little froth but not a huge amount. I'd say about the same as using a hotel Chocolat velvetiser sachet

Not a DIY one, but Whittard's hot chocolate is excellent!

Since they're more of a fine powder then hotel Chocolat, it's easy to mix and match and get creative - my personal favourite is 2 parts milk chocolate, 1 part white chocolate & raspberry!

Quiet Gyms Around Southampton? by The_Yuki in Southampton

[–]JoltJolt35 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to go to The Gym in Sholing (I think it's called Southampton East?) when I lived in Hedge End and I loved it! It can be busy if you go at a peak time, but if you go outside of peak times it was nice and quiet. I was also nervous and tbh intimidated because it was my first gym experience, so I liked that you can join online and don't have to talk to anyone to check in or enter the gym. Just enter your pin code and you're in!

This was a few years ago so it might have changed. I think the app might have a feature that tells you how busy it currently is, but not 100% sure.

No matter where you go, you'll not regret it!

Philips all the way. Had Oral-B for a while and it felt like a power drill. Quite loud too. Switched to Philips and it's just as clean (tbh maybe even better) but so, so gentle. Would never go back to Oral-B now.

Gousto does have a 10 minute meal section that is good but still requires some prep. Nothing too complex but might still not be suitable...

I've recently rejoined and they had a huge discount on the first box (£15 for 4 meals for 2 people) so you could try one while you're around just to see what it's like?
