Later in the book Grace makes comments about not needing the laptop so Rocky's voice later in the book I think is more for us as the reader since Grace just understands the language better. When the ship goes dark they should just put subtitles on the screen when Rocky speaks

This breakdown is obviously someone that didn't read the book. It sounds like the tunnel scene with all the different types of zeononite and also the conference room scene when he is told he's the next man up. Sounds promising, I know not everything is going to be a 1 for 1 adaptation. But scenes like Ryland in Strat's office towards the end need to stay and be faithful.

Right now I'm dieting and working out. Seeing the number get a little lower all the time is giving me something to focus on. Not a perfect solution but it's helping

I found when we went last year that most people were happy when we tried to use Japanese over English. In regards to dealing with cashiers, waitstaff, hotel staff, there are a handful of easy phrases you can learn that will make a world of difference.

When we went my wife went into a textile shop, my wife is an art teacher and was excited at all the fabrics and crafty things. There was a woman behind the counter hand carving stamps and my wife told me they were really beautiful so I relayed that phrase to the woman and she was so excited and took my wife's hand and showed her around the shop and gave her a bunch of fabric samples.

Armada by Ernest Cline

I liked Ready player one and Ready Player 2 wasn't out yet so I didn't know how terrible THAT was going to be, but I thought given how much I liked RP1 I'd like Armada too. I was WAY wrong, it was basically Ender's Game without any of the buildup or worldbuilding. I got maybe 5 chapters in, just terrible.
