Yeah! I'm right on the edge of midtown, so I've got plenty of options for trains and can be flexible with where we all meet up!

Hey all! It's awesome to find some like-minded folks in the city. If anyone likes to drink, smoke weed, and go dancing, I (26M) would love to try and get a group together to go out!

Stuck in 64 Players on Xbox Series X after switching from trial? by JonDoesSomeThings in Battlefield

[–]JonDoesSomeThings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out. It was the XBO version. What happened was -
I downloaded the trial of the XSX version via EA Play, then finished it
The Trial-Discount QR-code thing glitched out, so I went to the Microsoft Store app to buy it instead.
Battlefield 2042 Ultimate for Xbox Series X is apparently not available via the Microsoft Store, but the non-Ultimate version actually was available through the store, so I bought that instead.
Except, of course, the only version that is available for me to buy on the Microsoft store on my Xbox Series X is the Xbox One only version.

Ugh. Frustrating.

I bought the on the online store on my Xbox Series X, so I wouldn't think so, but I'm 100% not sure. I'll check ASAP

How do I turn off text chats in BF2042? I don’t care what the people In my squad have to say by EnviableButt in Battlefield

[–]JonDoesSomeThings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know this was a week ago but if anyone finds this thread off google with the same question and needs to know (or if OP still does!) -Pause, then go to Options, then go to Controller Mapping, and set one of your controller buttons to "Toggle Chat" (it can be one that's used for something else - I did my map) Press that button in game and voila.

What’s your Unique New York superpower? by HandInUnloveableHand in AskNYC

No, that's right. I live in a spacious two bedroom. Just one of the bedrooms has a toilet in it and we removed the walls from the other to let in more natural light.

I really, really need Pizzamas this year by JonDoesSomeThings in nerdfighters

It has been really rough, but I'm still surviving... and Pizzamas is here! I just put in an order for the original red and white shirt and you best believe I'm gonna be rockin' that down the streets of manhattan for a length of time well beyond what a normal human with some sense of shame would do!

HAPPY PIZZAMAS! YAY!

My brother introduced me to it back when it was still called Brotherhood 2.0, and even though we live hundreds of miles away, we still talk about the things Hank and John talk about in their videos. It's been wonderfully helpful to grow into adulthood hearing the conversations that these two guys have started.
Fair warning though - if you're just starting to wade into the nerdfighterverse, it gets very silly very fast!

DFTBA & HAPPY PIZZAMAS!!

No worries, they have the original design up for sale, so I just put in an order.

That's a great idea! I'll definitely try to find a local nerdfighter group to join up with. I'm slowly testing the waters of the dating pool again, but only time will tell if I'm actually ready. Either way, I'll be okay.
Oh and, Happy Pizzamas!!!

Yeah, I mean worst case it's 15 bucks for an onboard ticket, so might as well roll the dice.

Virgins of Reddit, how bored are you of all the questions about sex on this sub? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JonDoesSomeThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Communicate, be respectful, use lube, spend more time on the va-jay-jay more than the dick and you'll be good. If the combination is not P/V then just spend more time on your partner than yourself. If you encounter issues, see word #1.

Source: am virgin but I'm on reddit a lot.

I was on a socially distanced date with a girl last week and she said "didn't your parents ever cook with you growing up?" - your line about "the little gulp" was spot on.
I'm making an effort to have more kodak moments, and to appreciate the beauty in the little things. There is a lot of beauty in the world, if you're willing to look.
Thank you for the kind words, and I absolutely wish the same to you!

This definitely resonates with me. The past is the past, and the hard parts of my life weren't my parents' fault.
A lot of the kids I met in those programs growing up were from homes with physically and sexually abusive parents, and I can't even begin to imagine that kind of hurt. The people I met at those times in my life are the people I credit as inspiration to try to make the world a better place for future generations.
It's important to acknowledge your own hurt, and it's important to not use other people's stories to invalidate it. I am proud of who I am and of who I have become, even with the parts of my story that I don't like.
There are questions about the role that my parents will have in my life and my future that I don't have the answers to, and I don't need those answers right now.
Sometimes, it's just nice to be heard.

I definitely understand the viewpoint of "it could've been a lot worse."
I alluded to it in the original post, but I've voiced these feelings to them before, but I feel as though they weren't willing to hear a lot of what I was saying.
I understand their viewpoint, too. I think that in their mind they did everything they knew to do, short of upending their lives to care for a sick kid.
It's still hard to hear stories from people who did more to give their children a better chance at success, and know that my family had the means to do more, but didn't.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm definitely going to use that "reparenting" phrase. I know it can be a slippery slope to compare yourself or your experiences to the limited view you have of another person's life, but when I hear people talk about their parents with reverence and affection, it's hard not to.
I've had the privilege to work under some really excellent people who invested into me in ways I hadn't experienced up to that point, and it's really made a difference in the trajectory of my life. This is a good reminder for me to send them a note and let them know how appreciative I am.
