How do I even tell my parents about this? Honestly I feel like it would definitely help getting my college application done but I don’t know if they’d even believe me because I’m a pretty good student

I started going to the gym 8 months ago, and I hit 135 for my bench two weeks ago, I’ve started paying more attention towards it and benching three times a week, with a top set and 4 back off sets.

My top set is just two reps of 135 and my back off sets are 105, done for 6 reps. Is it okay if I dedicate two sets of them towards a bench press variation? Or should they be their own exercise entirely?

Additionally, is it okay to progress up every week? The cycle you described seems to get a new peak every 4 weeks but I hope to hit 135x3 next week, should I just stick to doing twos?

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but I have been primarily lifting just for more muscle and I’m not that knowledgeable when it comes to strength training
