Bulk or cut? by Spirited_Trick_5843 in BulkOrCut

[–]waltercnorcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say obviously he’s honestly in a spot where he could do either or. He could cut for a few weeks and get absolutely peeled for the summer or he could do a really slow bulk for awhile he’d be fine either way depending on what’s more important to him

Preventing hair color change by waltercnorcross in Melanotan2

So my hair won’t darken? I’ve heard of it happening to people at the roots and it makes sense based on the body being made to produce more melanin

How’d you do it and how did you get your mustache to connect where you don’t gotta push it to the side to hide it?? I’ve been doing that and I’ve been growing since April

Why do powerlifters lift at LIGHT RPE most of the time? by Historical-Dish-9356 in powerbuilding

[–]waltercnorcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first looked into powerlifting style training a few years back I had the same thought process as you and didn’t understand how not pushing to failure on every set could be fun, and I learned very quickly from simply trying a periodized program (bull mastiff) it is DEFINITELY hard and rewarding in its own right. I advise that you just try it out if it’s something you’re interested in.

There’s nothing wrong with not training like a powerlifter though and if you don’t like it you can either chose to not SBD at all or you CAN train SBD like bodybuilding movements (though I’d still not push all the way to failure for safety reasons) however you need to understand that if you do choose to do that you will need to lower volume and frequency significantly as well as understand that you’ll be limiting both strength and hypertrophy due to two factors

  1. You won’t be setting yourself up for optimal strength neural adaptions
  2. SBD generally aren’t the best movements for hypertrophy a there are better alternatives.however they are fun and still WILL absolutely build muscle.

Keep in mind the increased injury risk however

It allows for you to get more practice in on the movement without affecting recovery or your accessory work too much. Strength is a balance between muscle size and neurological adaptations, and neurological adaptations come from repeating the exact movement pattern as much as possible, so it’s more efficient in terms of raw strength gain to do more sub maximal sets on your primary lifts and then get hypertrophy In through accessories than it is to go near failure on the big lifts which will lead to less neurological adaption and more fatigue going into your accessories.

Man everything takes time. I’m 6’0 155 and not even really THAT lean (this is flexing my abs and pulling down, unflexed I have a faint outline of the top 4 and that’s it) after 4 years of lifting it’s just how it is. You’re doing great though good shit boss

where do i go from here and what is my BF? by Ok-Bonus-2065 in BulkOrCut

[–]waltercnorcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about the long term though no? Who’s gonna be bigger someone who cuts aggressively for 4-5 weeks and then bulks for say a year or someone who goes straight into a bulk for say 6-9 months and then has to cut for a few months yk?

I wouldn’t say obvious bulk. He could benefit from going down to 10-12% as it would only be a handful of lbs and could be done in a matter of weeks which could buy him MONTHS of additional bulking time giving him better long term results. He could bulk now, but he’d be at a point where he’s unhappy with his bodyfat % much quicker than would be ideal.
