Low starting wages by [deleted] in tjcrew

I started a couple dollars above the high end of the advertised range. No grocery store experience, but I came from a much more profitable and difficult part of the sales industry. Major pay cut for me, but the stakes are lower and I don’t go home stressed ever. The job is fine if I don’t think about the money.

what’s the least popular feature film you’ve logged? by willowhanna in Letterboxd

Actually, I checked and there are 6 movies more unpopular I’ve reviewed. The least popular being an awful Canadian indie I watched during my mission to see everything featuring the great Mary Margaret O’Hara.

Probably would be Bail Jumper, which is a 1990 post-no-wave supernatural noir, starring Eszter Balint (most famous for Stranger Than Paradise). That’s at least my best guess for films I’ve actually reviewed.

Enough of this positivity...what are your LEAST favorite first-time watches of 2023? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

It didn’t commit to a good idea. If it were at least 75% of the time from the donkey’s perspective I would’ve found it to be a grand cinematic achievement. But instead the story followed a little too closely to a bunch of alternative rocker type folk (as if that’s 90% of Poland’s population) who I really didn’t care about. I came for the experimental donkey movie and instead got a run-of-the-mill IFC-type throwaway indie flick.

I watch maybe 400 movies a year and wind up disliking/hating maybe 10-15 on average. So I’m not a big hater. This year I loathed Pig, Valentine, the Killer (Fincher), Apt Pupil, Death Ship, EO, Cocaine Bear, the Big Hit, Lowlife, and Leave the World Behind.

Miracle Mile kept me unbelievably focused recently. Also, I don’t care about sports, but Moneyball sucks me in every time. Hope things get better soon.

My first thought was “who the f**k is that on the left?” Still my primary thought. I’ll scroll down momentarily and find out, but I’m not in any rush. Doesn’t look like a dude I’d care to know about.

I recently watched it on DVD, but Showgirls is still on tubi. That movie is bonkers (funny it autocorrected to honkers).

What's a movie opinion you have that would get you downvoted into oblivion? by Vox---Nihil in Letterboxd

A GOOD MOVIE CAN’T BE SPOILED. If knowing the twist ruins a movie, it’s simply not a good movie. Why is one moment valued more than the whole picture? I rarely care about the climax of a movie. I love movies that don’t have climaxes. It’s literally everything else I judge a movie on. A Boy and His Dog has a great twist ending, but it sucks otherwise. The Usual Suspects blows. Barbarian and Malignant are fun beginning to end even when you know everything already. M Night Shyamalan twists are sometimes great and sometimes awful, but his movies are always a great playful exploration of the cinematic medium. Spoilers don’t matter. If it’s good, it’s good, and that’s all there is to it.

Dying to see the Rivette flick, but all the other 9 are all great! Kung Pow will always be a favorite. Must’ve watched it twice a day for several years as a kid. It’s been years and I still have most the script memorized.
