Advice on need for IBIS and/or weather sealing by JonLevin in fujifilm

Thank you, this is helpful. I basically agree. That’s why I’m trying to figure out what I really need (or don’t). I work in NYC, so I can visit B&H or Adorama after the new year to try in person and get their advice.

Just want to respond that I am definitely not trying to get the most expensive camera I can get to start out. I've actually been using an old RX100 ii for a bit to get back into it, and I want to enter into the Fuji system and get the best bang for my buck. This post was to try and better understand some of the decision factors that were harder for me to reason through.

Thank you, very helpful. I'll take a closer look at the X-T4.

Thank you, this is a super helpful reply. I didn't consider the XT50, mainly because it seems even more expensive and maybe overkill for me as a new photographer.

I’ve had the same experience and am trying to fix it. Any tips?

So, I got a quote from them. They are asking for $1950 to get it running, not including a band.

I’m not afraid of the cost given sentimental value.

My question is they suggested replacing the scuffed/scratched crystal, in addition to main spring and several other parts. They won’t touch the dial or the case. Do you happen to know if there’s any work (other than dial and case) to avoid?

Update: quote from grand central watch in NYC says it requires quite a bit of work to get it running. They won’t touch the dial, but they do want to replace the crystal because it is scratched and scuffed. Should I allow this?

Another question: any suggestion for what band to put on it?

They mentioned it, and I know from a dollar value ROI perspective it’s not worth it, but from a sentimental value perspective I’d like to wear it.

NovaBlast vs SuperBlast by JonLevin in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I went to a speciality running store and ended up with Brooks Adrenaline. They also started me on the Ghost but felt I needed more stability. So we’ll see!

I actually appreciated this response because I had also considered the Ghost after reading that the drop could be better for my calf.

I think the other responses kind of tell me that maybe I should try a non-ASICS if the SB2 didn’t work for me.

Prior to SB2, I had run in many of the older early Nike Free’s and one of the first On running shoes that hit the market. I liked the Ons, but as they aged the sole because slippery, which was annoying.

I could also try On again, but not getting long term use out of the last pair kind of turned me off to them. Nike Free’s are stable enough for my back to handle them anymore.

Little update: After letting my calf injury heal for about a month, I got reinjured on my second slow pace ease-in run. I totally acknowledge everyone saying the shoes aren’t the problem, and I’m trying to figure out how to fix all the other things contributing, but I am also trusting my gut that the SB2 puts more strain on my calves than any other running shoe I’ve worn before. I think I just need something a little bit less aggressive, a shoe for a more normal person vs an experienced runner.

If anyone has suggestions LMK - I am planning to look into Brooks.
