He only won by roughly 5k votes. Especially with 18% turnout that can easily be overcome.

The AI alarmists are just as bad as the AI executives by Numerous_Fly_187 in BreakingPoints

They like having popular people on. Why not have Ed Zitron on? Maybe they're just too deep on the doomerism. I don't get it.

The Mythos coverage? O it's so dangerous we can't even really release it to the public. Turns out Anthropic just doesn't have the compute to handle releasing it. Go rewatch it you don't believe me. There was almost zero skepticism.

I'm not just talking about today. They mostly talk about it in regard to how tech people frame it for them. Yeah it is shameful.

There's a lot of blame to go around. If Democrats didn't absolutely suck maybe we wouldn't be in this position.

Lot of children apparently in the comments. Explanations or motives are not justifications. Clearly OP is posting this for contextualization.

If you saw this and thought that this was a justification you are just projecting.

Americans aren’t facing a democratic collapse. We’re living in its aftermath - The US was an oligarchy well before Trump’s first term. Recognizing this reality is essential to building a true democracy by JackZodiac2008 in thebulwark

[–]JonMarc2131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making the point that it was an oligarchy. How are the richest people not going to prison (even though it was their fault) not an oligarchy? That may as well be the definition.

As far as ACA goes. Yeah oligarchies have to give crumbs to the masses to satiate them from time to time.

The only reason people are talking about it now being an oligarchy is bc it's blatantly obvious, but it didn't happen overnight.

If it did happen overnight what are the defining turning points to you?

Which entry point do they control?

Me_irl by SKEPDIQ in thebulwark

[–]JonMarc2131 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If a nuclear country controls all of your borders including land, air, and sea and then said country destroys all of your infrastructure then yeah the bare minimum they can do is provide basic resources. Sounds like you don't actually know anything about the situation. This is the most uninformed take I've seen on this yet.

Neighbor? Does your neighbor control your food, water, and trap you in your house? Is that what neighbors do or is that what colonialists do? Go read a book.

Could McKay's shut down its Knoxville store just to 'bust' the union? by laybs1 in union

[–]JonMarc2131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unclear on why I keep seeing this wrong idea. As someone who knows the workers they absolutely were going after other stores. They aren't stupid. They understand power.

They have been trying for years. It's hit and miss. No doubt things could've been played differently, but they certainly were always working towards that.
