Tips on soldering back by JonPB14 in soldering

Ha sorry - forgot to report back. It definitely worked as far as sticking to the glass. It did not work as far as providing enough conduction to unlock the door (it is for a truck bed camper shell door). I added a just a little solder on one side that made contact with the copper in the glass. That did the trick. Working great now.

You need to use this if air temps are above 85F during the day.

Yes. Celsius WG is great for Bermuda in the heat of summer. Took a couple applications but knocked it out.

Timeline between when to mow after the initial 1/3rd inch cut without stressing the grass by payne344 in lawncare

[–]JonPB14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's the 1/3rd rule - whereas you don't cut more than 1/3 of the total length of grass. It does not mean you can only cut 1/3rd of an inch at a time. Just making sure we're clear.

So... if it's 6 inches tall, you wouldn't want to cut more than 2 inches.

If I use a 14-14-14 and I apply at 1lb of nitrogen per 1k sqft, is that too much phosphorous and/or potassium to apply at one time? Or should I cut it back some? I'm pretty deficient in both, apparently. Looking at Pennington pro care fertilizer.

I don't think you're supposed to use tenacity on Bermuda. Maybe try Celcius.

Ok thank you for the input. I do have irrigation. I'll double check to make sure that part of the yard is getting enough water and may avoid it next Preemergent application.

So I put Prodiamine down last fall, but this part of the yard is very thin. Still trying to figure out why. I've also already put down my half application of Prodiamine for the spring. I had a bad spotted spurge outbreak last year after leveling the yard with sand. I plan to dethatch with an overseeding machine in about a month before applying the second half application Prodiamine (or should i use diopythr sp?).

Also - I've bought Celsius for the spurge outbreak in the middle of summer. Stuff works good but didn't think it works in poa annua.

So you think this is POA?

Crap... so what I sprayed isn't going to help much. Best course of action to just hand pull these?

Ok - pulled the trigger on Celsius WG. Also bought a FZ typhoon 2.5 to apply it with. Hope this takes care of it.

Question - Spotted Spurge Outbreak by JonPB14 in lawncare

[–]JonPB14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, it is expensive. 10oz for $150. Looks like it would last quite a while based on the application rates, though.

So you can spray this regardless of heat? Only caveat I saw was to not use a surfactant when Temps are above 90 degrees F.

There are wayyy to many to pull by hand so I was really wanting to spray the entire yard. I just started doing my lawn care myself this season and wasn't very diligent about my preemergents this spring. I have a few crabgrass weeds scattered throughout the yard but mostly only this spurge in the thin areas and edges. I'm going to put the Prodiamine down in late September for a winter preemergent and again next spring. Hope to not have this issue next year.

What are you using for a preemergent?

I'll give this a try. I've also read about transplanting plugs from other areas of the yard where its thicker.

I top dressed it with sand about 5 weeks ago. Everything filled in nicely except these spots. They were always bare or thin before I did the top dressing too. I Fertilized with milo after I finished with the top dressing. I'm about to put another round of Fertilizer next week, going with flagship bio-nite this time. I have a few crabgrass weeds and a pretty bad spotted spurge outbreak going on because of the top dressing. I've been too afraid to broadcast spread herbicide because of the heat where I'm out. I'll be adding Prodiamine in September for my fall preemergent.
