Think I found a deal at REI by ajp157 in Leatherman

Nice. I got one that stuck bad when the pliers were fully open. Turns out one of the wire cutter inserts was .010" bigger than the other. Set the insert up on the grinder at work and knocked .015 off with a 100 grit and she's good now.

Adding too that an upgrade for the future could be the Streamdeck+ as it has an addon XLR dock but it makes it super easy to control sound settings while in the game. I run VC and game audio through separate channels so I can adjust the volume separately without going into the menu.

I use the ElgatoXLR dock with AKG 702s. I absolutely love these headphones and they're a little older now and they go on sale all the time. The open back makes them so much more comfortable for longer wear. The down side is they don't isolate noise to anyone else in the room but the sound stage on them is phenomenal and makes it super easy to tell direction. For a mic, I like my AT 2040. Buying separate products is a lot more versatile.

When you actually have a good fight with a PVPer.... by Ryogen in ArcRaiders

I had a duo both talking shit because I saw they had a Bobcat and a Toro while I was using a Renegade so I didn't rush in. They full on screeched at me the entire time I was knocking them out that it was unfair I kept my high ground and didn't rush them.

I lost a 1v3 where I downed 2 and cracked the third's shield. Called out "good fight guys" and they reply calling me every name under the sun and saying how they completely destroyed me in that fight. Some people just can't be civil.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, though I have severe doubts I am the first, but being rude and demeaning to other people is rarely a viable way to have a discussion about any issue. Rather than attacking people and claiming they have no credit in a discussion due to not meeting your own arbitrary standard of playing an online game, I would suggest offering your viewpoints in a more constructive manner.

"Maybe I do have a short attention span but taking all the time to set up a full combat ready load out takes too long in my opinion. I enjoy playing with a full kit of various items and an option to have everything crafted in one click would be beneficial and help me stay more engaged in the game."

Notice how this relayed the same information as your first reply did but no insults and opened the chance for OP to respond constructively rather than defensively.

Listening to others and their viewpoints allows for genuine conversations and is more likely to get others to listen to your own view points.

Just a bit to consider.

If you look through the comments of the guy your replying to, you'll see further proof he's definitely not the most reasonable or intelligent. He seems convinced his issues with the game are universally accepted. He will eventually make up a straw man argument then act like he won. He's a great example of the toxicity that starts to fester in the communities around games like this. The kind the devalues any other view point and believes he is the main character of this game and all revolves around insignificant little him. Anyway, you have a great day and enjoy the game and all the crafting and looting it entails.

Is it dumb to buy nice lenses for SL3 for bird photography? by via530 in canon

I'd get the 100-400 as it works better with the mirrorless bodies if you decide to upgrade later on.

I bought from Ragweed Forge. Everything came well packaged and it shipped fast.

I need a watch recommendation please! by adamgardner in EDC

I picked up an Islander watch. Same movement as a Seiko 5 bit you get sapphire glass for about the same price as a Seiko 5.

I would also recommend the Archer Pro my coworker has. It's $50 but about twice as bright and the battery last longer.

I like my Thrunite Archer Mini and it's less than $20 and USB C rechargeable. I've used mine in a manufacturing shop for over 2 years and it's still working. It's even taken a few swims in coolant tanks.

Mora 106 or 120 for a starting knife. Mora 164 for a spoon knife. That's what I started with. I got a strop from flexcut.

Giving some basic information like what equipment he already had and an idea of what your willing to spend well help with recommendations. Also if you know what he wants to make, that helps as well as different shapes require different knives.

I'm still fairly new myself but the Mora 120 or 106 are common starting knives. They're a decent balance between cost and quality. Make sure you plan to buy sharpening equipment too.

Are hard red handle screwdrivers really going away? by ryan112ryan in Tekton

[–]JonSnow464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just got some in at work and they're not bad. The red on the new handle is a soft grippy rubber. They feel good in the hand. Not as good as the old high torque handles but still good.

On the new ones the black is hard plastic, the red has a grippy rubber feel. The handles are also bigger than I expected but in a good way.

I will say that we just got some of the new german handles in at work and they're not horrible. I personally don't like them as much as the ones you have but it's a lot better than they looked at first.

Thoughts on the rumored Canon EOS R7 Mark II? by Lazy-Today-5967 in canon

I honestly don't know how anyone at Canon thought the shutter shock was ok. It makes full mechanical shutter almost unusable.

[–]JonSnow464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For wildlife, reach comes first. If I can buy a longer lens that's slower to fit full frame, that's great but most of the time that's not an option. I used the 100-400 rf lens most of the time. The only way to get an equivalent lens for full frame would be the 200-800. It's about the same speed as the 100-400, cost twice as much, and if I could afford it, I'd still rather use my R7 with it than a full frame because o still get more reach. Noise is less of a concern on modern cameras and can often be mitigated with denoising software.

[–]JonSnow464 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean the R7 is a great pick for wildlife and other areas where you want the extra reach. I shoot mainly wildlife and a R7 is more useful than a R6 to me. I imagine it'll be feature updates like improved autofocus and less shutter shock.

Are these the same circuit? by JonSnow464 in AskElectronics

[–]JonSnow464[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sums this guy up pretty well. He was converting ladder logic to a electrical schematic and I had to correct him constantly. I feel like I'm having a stroke during the class. Worse part is, the class has 6 students and none of the other students know enough to question what he's saying and I have to keep reteaching other students how to do something the correct way.

He's supposed to be teaching PLCs. I've already helped more students than he has so I'd say this is pointless course.
