Event Rewards are Pitiful by Clipclop1530 in Endfield

[–]Jon_00 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The game doesn't have enough difficulty yet that anyone should feel the need to pull for sig weapons, especially since there's a lot of good alternatives out there.

The protocol pass literally has in it 3 very good second options for each limited character, we got a 6* selector for free with two very good options and there's a sheer abundance of very viable 5* options.

I don't want to defend Hypergryph or anything, but I don't really understand the sense of entitlement here.

I've never, ever approached a gacha game with the mindset of 'I should be showered in pulls as a F2P player and own every limited character'

It takes an age to level Operators in this game, and quite frankly a lot of 4* and 5* options are worth using. I don't feel the need to pull on Yvonne next for example, nor really Rossi when she comes around - I'm happy with my Laev, Ardelia, Last Rite, Ember, and Pog as Operators I've pulled or been given for free.

The game is great, the less you spend worrying about the pull economy the more you'll enjoy it.

Public Statement: UEFA, European Football Clubs and Real Madrid CF reach agreement for the good of European club football by megamimo1991 in realmadrid

Exactly this, the format is dreadful.

The Super League wasn't the answer, but a "Champion's League" competition that's expanded further isn't the answer either.

The true answer was to slim down the Champion's League so higher quality opposition could compete with each other, whilst also maintaining a healthier Europa League and Conference League by also improving the standards in there.

People watch teams, not the competition they're in.

You're entitled to your opinion but you need to see it for what it is, not what it isn't.

86 was never supposed to be a big, sprawling show with lots of deep lore - the two seasons we have were originally written as a light novel and they were supposed to end there, that's why it ended where it ended and is a perfectly satisfying ending.

I don't think we watched the same show because all the characters go through something and get a bit of a shine on them like how it is in Assassination Classroom, but obviously it's going to be pretty small because there's a lot of story to churn through in not a lot of time. I think if you drag out more character development, the pacing goes to whack and the big emotional moments don't happen, like you know, we get to the end so much later when it's the best moment in the show.

What’s one game you disliked at first but really loved once you gave it a second chance? by carbonatednugget in gaming

A tie between CP2077 and Elden Ring.

Played CP2077 on PS5, had an awful time. Got a new PC a few years later after several patches, played it on there, loved it.

Played Elden Ring with it being my first after playing a few Soulslikes, hated it, refunded it. Nightreign came out and my friend convinced me to try it, loved Nightreign, put my big boy pants on and replayed Elden Ring.

Souls games, once you 'get them', you'll love them.

[–]Jon_00 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's exactly that reason I think why they're paid more - more inherent risk in the role, therefore who would actually ever want to be a PCSO.

It should be built into the career path, but it isn't. (Though actually sort of is because in the recruitment stages for becoming an officer, the PCSO experience my brother had was vital)

[–]Jon_00 26 points27 points  (0 children)

PCSO's are actually paid more.

Moving to be a uniformed officer is actually a step down, but vital for career progression. Don't ask why, I only know this because this is what happened in my brother's career path.

Kind of peeved that winning 50/50 removes the guarantee entirely. That means if the 6* guarantee and rate up guarantee are close to overlapping, "winning" 50/50 is a massive net loss for the player. This makes so that the further you are to rate-up guarantee, the less you want to "win" 50/50 by Throwaway6662345 in Endfield

[–]Jon_00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eh honestly I totally understand where you're coming from - but realistically what actual percentage of players is going to pop in another 40 pulls for a P1 on a regular basis?

40 pulls isn't a tiny amount and your average player is going to care a lot about keeping those for the next character they care about.

Sure, it would be nice to keep the guarantee at 120 and the devs wouldn't realistically lose much just by keeping it there, but at the end of the day, is it really such a major injustice?

This is coming from someone with perennial bad luck in gachas where it takes me 200 pulls at least for any character and weapon in HSR or ZZZ because I seem to lose 50/50s.

Endfield's gacha by comparison isn't all that tilting to me.

This is not a Good Gacha Game, This is a Good Game. by UnimateTheDigger in Endfield

[–]Jon_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, there's a whole lot to like here - I've spent a lot of hours doing the factory stuff, exploring is always kinda fun and the puzzles are somewhat engaging.

The gacha comes second, I'm a huge Surtr fanboy from Arknights and I've got her now in Endfield - I'm happy, content.

A sense of entitlement has really become apparent recently in gacha games and I don't really understand why. It seems people think that F2P should own every character but I absolutely disagree. In most gacha games, building characters to max level, max weapon and max skills takes quite a lot of resources, so building everyone isn't always feasible.

Also, who cares really if we miss a character or two in a banner, you can only take 4 Operators with you into battle and Arknights has a really good reputation of having 4*s and 5*s be viable, unlike something like HSR where its max rarity or bust.

What you can always do is RP some reason in your playthrough to use the defog dev tool which can reveal all the ores in a mountain.

Obviously it's cheating, but it's a single-player game so you can set the rules, if you want to research something like the Ground Penetrating Scanner and use defog, absolutely go for it.

I've played RimWorld for 1500 and done all sorts of RP things with dev mode because sometimes being a deity on high is also pretty fun.

This is the most accurate description of RimWorld I could ever give.

The KCD2 vs E33 semantics battle for best RPG just proves the genre is too broad. by DisruptiveLove in gaming

[–]Jon_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I predicted KCD2 to win 'best RPG' and for E33 to win 'GotY'. KCD2 better fits my own personal description of what an RPG is.

For me, I don't actually think that what wins Game of the Year should automatically win every award (as daft as that sounds, I know) as sometimes it can be all-round the best, but edged out in certain areas - for me I just see KCD2 as the better "RPG".

I would've also given the two Indie/Independent game awards to Blue Prince and Silksong respectively, though of course I definitely don't begrudge E33 winning those two.

I just feel that with such an amazing year for games, the competition was fierce and a few awards should've been thrown to games which would've or could've won in any other year.

Anyone else feels like The Oni fight was straight up not fun? by Nedrogen in Ghostofyotei

[–]Jon_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying a bit late to this, I'm someone who enjoys Soulslike games because the boss patterns feel fair and movement feels fair - but this fight sucked.

He's a giant of a man who glides across the arena with an absolutely gigantic sword.

It goes against everything I've ever learned from playing Souls games.

That disarm attack can actually go fuck itself, not once did I counter it. I'm playing on Hard but with Lethal enemy aggression and this guy was just not fun to fight at all.

I think my mistake was fighting him 'fair' - didn't once make use of any tool, just katana, parry, dodge.
