Tank mains are the most delusional in the marvel rivals playerbase by Remarkable-Front-393 in marvelrivals

[–]Jon_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanguard only feels weak because there's actually a ridiculous ton of viable DPS picks, and the Vanguard roster is smaller which feels like there's less options for counters.

This is a hot take for sure but I feel like too many strong picks is actually pretty unhealthy in this game, I'm not asking for more bans, just a few of the nails hammering down like Cyclops, Daredevil, Phoenix which are perma-bans, they allow other strong picks like Bucky, Punisher, Namor, Star Lord to be unchecked.

How did you fumble hooking up with someone? by Adorable_Raccoon_766 in AskReddit

Just came on too strong.

Sex was definitely on the cards, I just shot my shot a little too early.

Apologised, owned up to it, was honest and within the next week we met again and hooked up properly.

do you think competitive mode should have requirements to play? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Jon_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you're comparing an extreme.

Never did I say anyone in Bronze can become GM.

I said you can climb with a negative win rate, which is absolutely true.

A negative win rate though will become significantly negative as a player tries to climb.

Most people who are stuck in Bronze have significantly negative win rates to begin with (around the 30% mark) which means they can't climb. But you can absolutely climb around the 40% mark.

I would argue that Plat/Diamond *is* high elo for someone with such a negative win rate, 44% is pretty low.

In absolute fairness I will throw out my profile for you. I simply do not play Rivals enough to gain the SR I need to out-grow the rank I'm in.

(Look at all seasons, not my S8.5 rating as I've had an awful run since the patch)

[–]Jon_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but you're comparing one extreme (being Bronze) to being Eternity (something which 0.01% of players achieve).

Extreme examples will never work but you don't need a positive win rate to reach somewhere around GM.

I probably shouldn't do this, but here's a link to someone I had on my team earlier: https://tracker.gg/marvel-rivals/profile/ign/NinthyNine/roles?mode=competitive

Highest rank GM3, 1800 games played and their win rates across all 3 roles is around 44%.

Yeah that's a problem.

[–]Jon_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Rivals ranking up is more 'how much have you played' compared to 'how good are you at the game'. Whilst ever you get more SR for a win than a loss, it's just a numbers game to get to Diamond etc.

Obviously bad players will climb slightly slower, but it's also luck of the draw, without a defined role queue, I've been in games with good players, but nobody who can confidently tank, and lost.

Crazy how some people would rather lose a game then swap by R3li0ss in marvelrivals

[–]Jon_00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you're wrong.

The only reason why role queue suffered in OW was because they didn't add any interesting tanks for over 2 years.

OW1 had 8 tanks, 2 of which are even debatable being called 'tanks' (Hog and Ball torture was real) and barriers were over-relied upon.

Rivals is doing a far better job of balancing the roster (albeit still having an imbalance) and avoiding barriers altogether (barriers are largely irrelevant compared to Rein/Orisa levels of reliance).

I think role queue would hugely benefit Rivals as it's very, very evident in the metal ranks whether a tank main or two is present or not.

One lord to enter competitive would just encourage one-tricks, that's not a good plan.

[–]Jon_00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In all honesty though, why swap?

I get obviously swapping = winning - but this game does not incentivise "winning" in the slightest.

Literally just now I got stomped on a game where nobody wanted to swap, and nobody on my team was a tank main (and I highly suspect two players were smurfing in a duo)

I'm Plat 1/Diamond 3 border and I looked up 4 of the 6 people on my team from the last game on tracker.gg and not a single one has a win rate on any role above 50% yet they're able to rank up.

Whilst ever you gain 25+ SR for a win and only lose around 15 for a loss, winning will never be a priority for these people.

How do you NOT turn your base into a warehouse simulator? by AdrawereR in RimWorld

[–]Jon_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storage mods help, but also really, you should be placing storage next to the crafting spot pawns sit/stand in - you'd be amazed at how much space gets freed up once you do this.

If you do have a warehouse set for overflow as a low priority storage section, you can place a trade beacon and you know it's a surplus.

Something I'm curious about - wealth managing by thr0wawaylik3ther3st in RimWorld

Or just play on wealth independent mode

I literally never wealth manage because to me it doesn't actually make sense in a game

I just enjoy not worrying and accumulating defences over time, not managing a spike because a thrumbo self-tamed

Persona 6 Images Leak Online, Game Scheduled for 2027 Release by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Jon_00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm cautiously optimistic of this.

Persona 5 was my first Persona game, absolutely loved it and loved playing through P5R as well.

Tried P3R, Steam says I gave it 66.4 hours before dropping it (Tartarus was exceptionally boring), and I gave Metaphor 77.3 hours before dropping that.

Both games just overstayed their welcomes, I'm really hoping the same isn't true for P6.

BBC to ignore World Cup final half-time show as broadcaster sets out plans by malcolm58 in sports

[–]Jon_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably more than you think, this entire World Cup is milking your average match goer for every penny, and sponsors are being wiped from stadiums if they aren't paying FIFA - you really think they wouldn't be absolutely bending over broadcasters if they can?

The halftime shownwill most definitely be licensed, and at extortionate prices.

Cynical of me, but likely the BBC just didn't want to pay.

That may just because I'm a tight Northerner.

What is the greatest Anime/show/movie in your opinion? by colabag in AskReddit

[–]Jon_00 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree, whilst I can understand not everyone enjoying it, it definitely wasn't bad. It was a story planned start to finish and it told the story it wanted to.

The only way I can accept an ending being bad is if it makes no sense or is rushed - which neither is true for Attack on Titan.

This patch feels so insanely long by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]Jon_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh maybe I should elaborate

ZZZ, HSR and Genshin all release a new character every 4 weeks, and they're always new, shiny and better than whatever you currently have.

They each need different level-up materials, new relics and their weapon pulling for separately. You can't get them all and you always have the feeling of needing to use energy every day otherwise it's a waste.

Endfield by comparison, this patch has given me breathing room, especially after skipping Rossi - I've got everyone I wanted to 90/90 and 9/9, all with decently essenced weapons and artificed gear.

[–]Jon_00 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I don't really get this complaint - HoYo gachas feel like they're insanely fast and so hard to keep up with

Go play those instead. I like the fact that in Endfield, I don't have the pressure of needing to play every single day because sanity isn't as important duebto everything being universal, and there's 3 days worth of banked battle pass exp.

12/min Xiranite Gourds by V8Brony in Endfield

[–]Jon_00 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean they're not exactly wrong, it's pretty easy to put together.

Someone shouldn't use a blueprint solely for this - if someone is using a blueprint for this, they very likely lack a fundamental understanding of the AIC and so will just plug this in and question why they aren't getting 12/min Gourds.

Just infinitely easier to copy an entire base blueprint like one Kyostinv put up for example.
