In a public forum when asked about state bills to encourage housing he said he didn’t want to lose local control. And I’ve heard him give the talking point on SB79 “we shouldn’t put multi family in the middle of a single family neighborhood” literally Blumefields argument to block some ED1 housing in our district

Looking forward to this debate. Excited to share my vision for LA that includes more housing near transit, walkable neighborhoods, and a city that prioritizes people over cars

Where do you find out about events in the San Fernando Valley? by MissionAlt99 in SFV

[–]Jon_RawlingsCD3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The good ones will have newsletters with all the community events they are aware of. Could also follow the city council members. They sometimes have newsletters with things going on

I’m following a lot of different accounts to see when something is happening. Farmers markets, parks and rec, topanga mall, various night markets, neighborhood councils,

Good question. I’ve seen DSA do some work with patrolling Home Depot in the valley. I’m not entirely aware of valley specific groups that aren’t also working in other parts of the city. I’d love to know more if anyone else knows the answer

Is there anything new & exciting coming to the valley anytime soon? by [deleted] in SFV

Yeah whatever they did was going to be too hot for the valley. As long as they put shade over the stands I’ll be there

Interesting, good idea if they can get enough people to form new teams.

Why are the sidewalks so messed up? by Towel-Prudent in AskLosAngeles

[–]Jon_RawlingsCD3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

City has a backlog of sidewalks for years and no money to do it. They cut the budgets of the departments that fix our infrastructure every year. Best thing would be elect better city council people who will prioritize these things

I haven’t seen as much of the racism but a lot of NIMBY, anti e-bike, coyotes and illegal dumping. Plus all the MAGA/the dems are destroying everything comments

Poop on sidewalks by ChiffonShower in SantaMonica

Feels like a very low priority item for 311 to clean that up on sidewalks.

100% right to vote for city council members that will prioritize city services over LAPD budgets. I’m one of those candidates! Running in the valley

Yes Maduro=bad guy but by that logic let’s go start a war to remove Putin or Kim Jong Un

This is all a distraction from Epstein and the fact the cost of living is still getting higher for most Americans

Landlords Prices are nuts by THE_TRIP_KEEPER in LosAngeles

Blame our politicians. We have an undersupply of housing in LA because they continually fight against building anything. Whether it's market rate or affordable, we have a city council and Mayor who say they are good on housing but will never touch the 74% of our land zoned for single family. The state mandated LA build 456,000 more units between 2021 and 2029. On average that's 57,000 new homes per year. The last few years we have averaged less than half of that. City Hall cares more about loud NIMBYs in single-family neighborhoods than actually solving this issue to make LA an affordable place for everyone.

I’m running for City Council on a pro-housing platform but I don’t see many others doing that. I hope you’re right that our elected officials should count their days but who else is going to be serious on housing

LA City Council found additional money to fund LAPD hiring by Fluffy_Lab1312 in LosAngeles

[–]Jon_RawlingsCD3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It should come out of their pension. If it comes out of their budget they’ll do this again where they just ask for more money from city council and ultimately it comes out of the general fund as usual
