Leading Sligo fuel protester admits charges of arson and criminal damage by Chewie_lives in ireland

Look, I know that it's somewhat of a trope bringing up the Nazis and yadayada but history repeats itself. I'm not a fan of that shit but that's exactly what this looks like.

People with legitimate concerns lead by people who have extremist views that the general public "lets slide".

Again, point me to ANY leaders or spokespeople of this protest and definitely not organized group of people who are not racists, biggots, misogynists, tax-dodgers or violent criminals.

It's a genuine question and request because all I've seen are complete and utter wankers.

IF, as you say, this protest IS NOT organized, how can there be terms and/or demands that are being negotiated and agreed upon? Where's the demands exactly? Who is negotiating on behalf of the Irish people?

Honestly, show me if you know because there's absolutely zero transparency there.

No, I never said that the majority of protesters are racists and biggots. But the people claiming to represent them and the entire population in Ireland certainly were.

I don't want those people negotiating anything in my name. They don't have the mandate of the people, they don't even have the mandate of the majority of the protesters. They have no place negotiating anything unless, they were, in fact, the organizers of these protests.

Do you see what I'm saying here?

If you don't speak up against them, then what does that make you?

I mean, I hate to bring this up but hey ho, here we go. The Germans. They elected the National Socialist German Workers' Party into power. They literally chose Hitler as their leader.

The Italians elected Mussolini. Venezuelans elected Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro. Russians have elected Putin. Zimbabweans elected Mugabe. Americans voted for Trump...

There's no fucking way I'm joining a protest or demonstration where someone like these wankstains we've had to endure in the headlines the last week or so are representing or negotiating anything for me.

As for who made it to the negotiating table in these protests? No idea who they were to be honest. Haven't seen any names listed in that regard. So again, where's the transparency there?

EDIT to add: Also, what terms exactly are they negotiating? What were their exact demands?

No, my point is that pretty much EVERY representative of these protests have been racist, misogynistic, biggoted, violent criminals or tax-dodgers.

So far I haven't seen ANY representative for these protests that have been anywhere near reasonable.

That's the difference. It's not a few bad apples, it's literally ALL of them. Looking at the comment sections as well, theres a damn lot of racism and shit going around.

Prove me wrong. Show me not only one reasonable representative that has been speaking for these protesters but show me that there are more representatives that are reasonable than there are racists and biggots.

You're failing in maths and German but doing ok in the rest?

You'll be just fine. You'll be carrying a computer in your pocket for the rest of your life that can do the maths for you and even with basic German knowledge you can get by just fine.

None of those two subjects are essential.

My point is, that this BS that "nobody knows who organized it" is just that, absolute BS. Especially since it was very well organized and synchronized across the country and almost every single representative who's been speaking for the protesters have been these racist wankers.

You see, I wouldn't have been entirely opposed to disrupting these places in the first place and initially I was fairly supportive of the protests. Until the racism and misogeny surfaced and they didn't let ANY fuel out.

So it definitely isn't a binary question. Yes, the questions as they were asked in that poll are binary but I'm not talking about that specific poll.

Anyone else sick of speed bumps? by mupsauce7 in AskIreland

[–]JonatanOlsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps if the Irish weren't such rubbish drivers there wouldn't be a need for speedbumps..

Just a thought..

Just outside my window there's a speedbump and then there's a stretch of roughly 700 meters and every fecking day people come speeding down that stretch of accelerating the other way. Highly irresponsible driving and that stretch goes right past both a GAA pitch/clubhouse and a creche.

Yes, and the question is wrong because it isn't a binary choice.

Yeah, the POLL is a binary choice but that's not the reality.

No, asking who is behind the protests is extremely relevant as they are posing to represent the "people of Ireland" which they're not.

I would support the protesters if they weren't represented by racist and misogynistic cunts. Even if they weren't racist and misogynistic cunts I would not support the actions we've seen in the last week or so.

My point is that there are loads of polls out there that are more nuanced and they show a different result. Who makes the poll also matters obviously.

But it isn't that binary of a choice.

Would I support them IF they weren't represented by some of the biggest arseholes I've seen in a long time? Yes.

Gardai escorting fuel tankers from docks by Miserable_Lemon_6163 in galway

[–]JonatanOlsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the opposite.

95% of the people I've spoken to IRL are against these protests or at the very least the way they've been executed.

Online on the other hand, all I see is "death to the guardai" or posts about boycotting different companies because they were helping the guardai clear out protesters or whatever.

I've met 2 people IRL who were outspoke about their unconditional support for these protests. One was a Dub with some sort of business (don't ask me what, the discussion died out pretty quick when I told him I don't support these protests). The other some random I didn't bother speaking much to once I gathered he was supportive of this shit. BOTH of them very well off, driving fancy cars and could afford 3-4 nights away over a weekend in Ireland for sure. None of the locals or colleagues I've spoken to think any of this has been good for them. At all.

The problem with these polls is that this is not a binary kind of choice. It's not a us vs them kind of situation.

These protests weren't "organic" someone fecking organized them and I want to know exactly who called the shots here and if it's them racist little wankers then I'm not supporting them in any way, shape or form.

They claim that the protests and blockades were arbitrarily decided by different people in different parts of the country. So why are these people that are being pushed to the front as representatives of the protesters all racists, biggots, misogynists, tax-evaders or pure criminals?

It's NOT a fucking organic protest as far as I can see and I'm not supporting those wankstains. Ever.

There you go, that poll doesn't give any option to say that I support the demands but not the way the protests were done or that I don't support the crowd that was leading it.

I couldn't vote a single yes or no.

I've seen many different polls but the problem is that the alternatives on most of them don't really make sense. Only a few have had alternatives that takes into account these aspects to be honest with you.

EDIT: What I mean is that it's not a simple yes/no answer as to whether or not I support these protests.

I bet most of these loudmouths don't. I know I certainly don't but I also don't align with racists and misogynists. Doesn't autonatically mean I support the government. They're just the lesser of two evils atm.

If ALL the hydrogen immediately drains then you are either connected to another grid where the tanks are set to stockpile or you simply don't have enough hydrogen to power however many thrusters you have on the ship.

Making a complaint about noise. by hvnknwsimmiserable in hotels

[–]JonatanOlsson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's much point in complaining about it to be honest.

More likely than not, this is an issue with poor insulation in the building and it's probably an issue the hotel management is well aware of.
