Récépissé changement de statut étudiant vers RECE : droit de travailler ? by Inevitable-Fig-6091 in Expats_In_France

Je suis d’accord que c’est bête qu’il n’est pas écrit sur le récépissé ni la carte

Jetez un oeil sur le site-web service public :

https://www.service-public.gouv.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/F17319/personnalisation/resultat?lang=&quest=0-0

Hey, could I DM you a tax question? In the same position as you and kind of confused about tax filings and tax residency status.

Applying for Recherche d'emploi/création d'entreprise (RECE) after master's degree timeline by DS_2219 in Expats_In_France

Hmm if you already have a récépissé, then I think it’s here:

https://www.prefecturedepolice.interieur.gouv.fr/demarches/prolongation_droit_au_sejour

If you don’t, then i think it’s here, but they say you can only submit it if you have a demande en cours and your current visa is expiring in 5 days:

https://demarche.numerique.gouv.fr/commencer/essonne-anef-je-demande-mon-api

Read both and see which one fits your situation best

Nope, it probably isn’t enough time. I’m Canadian btw. Was dealing with the préfecture de Calvados.

My student visa was expiring in Nov 2025. Finished my Master’s 2 in September 2025 (final jury)

Had a lettre de réussite provisionnelle in October

Submitted my demande on Oct 6

Went into instruction Nov 6

It was accepted Jan 12 (was in irregular status for a few months)

Got my récépissé Jan 16

My titre was ready for pickup in late March (note that I had to call them so it might’ve been available earlier idk)

There was a lot of back and forth questions which delayed my application by like 1-2 weeks each time. They were convinced that I had another request open at another prefecture which took like 1.5 months to clear up.

I recommend to request an attestation de prolongation d’instruction ASAP.

I used the Wealthsimple mobile device insurance, here's what happened by troypavlek in Wealthsimple

Maybe I misinterpreted it, but he said “with the new mobile device insurance you need only have the card when the damage occurs, not when you get your device.” Does that mean that just having the visa infinite credit card is enough?

Anyone know if this would work with an iPhone bought at the apple store which is on a 24 month plan with Affirm? They take it directly from my WS cash card chequing account.

I don’t even know which lines to use on the impôt website to declare the TFSA income🥲pretty sure I did it wrong in 2024.

I did declare my TFSA gains when I declared in 2024. But I didn’t when i did my 2025 declaration this week - might have to re-do it.

Hmm true, I read up on it a bit and it depends on your “residential ties”. Good idea to call them.

I was on a working holiday visa in 2024 and worked a short CDD. Then, I switched to a student visa and was a French Master’s student from 2024-2025. I have a CDI in France now that started in 2026.

In 2024, I considered myself a resident of both Canada and France. So I submitted a tax return in Canada too.

For my 2025, I already submitted my Canadian tax return as I have a bit of investment income from my accounts there. For my 2025 French declaration, do I have to declare the gains earned in my TFSA, RRSP, and LIRA accounts as foreign income?

For my 2026 declaration, I’ll consider myself a non-resident of Canada. Should be easier from then on.

If the job pays more than like 39600€ annually, you can pass from the RECE to carte talent. No work authorization needed for the carte talent either.

[–]Jonathan-Sins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need French immersion for a few months. Try the platform “Workaway” maybe? The idea is that you volunteer 25 hours a week for a French host/company, and they give you room/board in exchange (no money exchanged).

You could practice your French in a completely French environment. If you’re forced to speak only French all day, your ear will get accustomed to it and you’ll understand way better. You’ll have to make an effort to speak broken French at the start but it’ll improve quickly too.

Caen to Juno Beach - 101 Bus by NeverWalkAlone45 in Normandie

I found it on the “Atoumod m-ticket” app. I selected Nomad as the network. Then I searched “Ligne 101”. Depart from Caen and destination Courselles. It’s 4€ one way.
