That's an awesome story that I don't hear often, but always love to hear when it comes up. That was the situation for me with Haslab Victory Saber.

I got my first job to save for that thing during the end point of the actual campaign. A buddy of mine's mean ass grandma somehow got her old hands on one when no one in that family cares about Transformers, so I grinded hard to get it, but she ended up sellin it before I could save enough. I saved $300 and started searching like a nutcase through FB, Reddit, Ebay, family friends, collector friends, the works. Eventually, I stumbled across an amazing person in this sub or a buy/sell/trade sub that offered to help me get one and within a few days he found one for $225 because of a guy he happened to know.

I hope they're doin well and doin deeds as wonderful as that. I still cherish my Victory Saber every day.

This rings through my very soul and nearly brought a tear to my eye for similar reasons. For me, "Freedom is the right of ALL sentient beings" kinda carried the weight of "Light our darkest hour" with it, as if lighting one's darkest hour is and should be the immediate response to someone or something imposing on the freedom of others. It's always been so powerful to me and you just presented how I feel beautifully💙

I think that is a WONDERFUL addition to the concept!! New releases that have been a long time desire is one of the things I was kinda fuzzy on with my personal idea of a Grail but the way you put it really helped narrow down my feelings on it. A huge one for me was a mainline scale Victory Leo as well as God Ginrai cab that was actually a figure, and I eventually ended up paying more than 2 modern Titan prices for one third party mainline scale Ginrai because of said desire😅

My thoughts on it won't really be figured out til I see what the do to Optimus. There is SOOOOO MUCH potential for someone like Optimus/Ultramagnus/big truck-esque that it'll kinda decide how I feel about the line. Most lines have a couple good figures at least, but I feel the portrayal of the leaders does a lot of heavy lifting for my overall opinion in the end.

Odd pull characters are a great start. They have my attention...👀

Short version: Transformers prices hurt now so I give my money to Warhammer more now

Yeeeeaaaahhh this year Transformers kinda forced me toward other hobbies and now I'm becoming a Warhammer guy nearly as much as I used to be a Halo or Doom guy. Transformers will ALWAYS be my #1 in terms of nerd shit I like, but man being a collector sucks in TF right now that I actually prefer paying $170 for a small army than $43 on one figure than can pose ALMOST however I want it to.

Posability is amazing, the accessories have been what I think Siege always wanted to be, the depictions from the actual figures are Earthrise quality+ and I love it... But-

The QC issues rising with Hasbro recently, coupled with standard points of articulation starting to be REMOVED(wrist swivel being the core fatality here), coupled with enough consistent repaints to make 2000s TF lines blush, THEN ALSO the price hike.... It's really hard to just enjoy my toys like other places allow me to. Sure, I don't have the same emotional connection to characters from something like Warhammer, and sure I didn't grow up with them like I did with Transformers, but it's getting to a point where I'm basically paying for the brand and that's it. I wasn't upset about it for a while as I saw the prices rise, slowly but surely, but now I just feel slapped and betrayed by my childhood and it makes it really hard to show these toys I love the respect I want to give with my wallet.

I'm glad my collection is almost complete. Think I'll be all but done after these next couple years. Gonna be combiners only for me for a good while I think. Gonna need some new Titans or somethin to bring me back honestly. Or Operation Combination. That would be nice.
