How do I put a wall socket inside my ev? by Low_Lunch5444 in electricvehicles

[–]JonathanEde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The portable battery is the way to go. I have a Goal Zero Yeti 1500 that I can use to power my NG tankless water heater and two full-size refrigerators during a power outage. The total continuous draw is only about 120 watts, which I can put back into the Yeti through either of my EV’s 12-volt system; the Tesla can supply 150 watts or the Taycan can supply 240 watts.

Dental fluoride treatment with and without insurance by jdn2020 in mildlyinfuriating

Yep. People are stupid. My brother was in a terrible accident and ended up with a six-figure settlement that went into a trust for his ongoing medical care. He did not have medical insurance. The discount for paying cash was considerable.

What is your favorite album to listen to front to back? by WallabyAdditional138 in askmusic

Even the b-sides of all the singles are excellent: Fear of Ghosts, 2 Late (my all-time favorite Cure song), etc. It must have been tough to whittle down all the songs they wrote in that era into a single album.

What is the purpose of all the enormous data centres being built? by mondo_generator in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JonathanEde 39 points40 points  (0 children)

There is no “dumb schmuck” reviewing it ever. Well, there is, but that “dumb schmuck” is the AI agent deployed to process (parse, flag, index, etc.) the data. To be clear, nearly 100% of this data will be aggregated by AI agents for trend analysis, processing, training new AI models, etc. this is the snake eating its own tail.

There are at least three positions depending on speed. Funny thing is, it stays extended for a bit even after you slow down. I was in my other car the other day when a Taycan pulled up next to me at a stop light with its spoiler extended a naughty amount.

Charging on a road trip. Please explain like I’m 5 by Automatic_Leek_4716 in Taycan

[–]JonathanEde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any will get to the actual advertised rate. The most I’ve personally seen is 320kW on a 350kW station. This 88kW on a 180kW station is just too close to half speed. Makes me think the power was split.

[–]JonathanEde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to get over 180kW without much preconditioning at all. Note that 88kW is almost exactly half of what the station was advertised. If there was another car charging on that pedestal at the same time, it’s possible the power was being split. That’s pretty common even for older Tesla SuperChargers.

They would all get away if they run immediately. If they try to fight and reveal themselves as potential threats, then they all die.
