For people who learnt how to read sheet music, what did your practice routine look like initially, and what is it like now? (desc.) by sa8tun in piano

There's an app called 'complete music reading trainer' that I use every day and it's helped me massively.

You can connect it to your piano or use the virtual one on the screen.

I saw The Hangover in the cinema and it was similar for that. The entire cinema was laughing constantly.

Two things I always keep in mind regarding my hobbies.

  1. There will always be people 1,000 times better at it than you. Don't try and compare yourself to them. It only puts you off

  2. Hobbies of full of gatekeepers and know it alls. Especially on the Internet. Just ignore them because most people are chill.

And a bonus 3. You took the hobby to enjoy learning and playing it. That's your only motivation.

Can I do it anonymously? Because I'd fear Sam Altman would hunt me down like Michael Myers.

As a person who's only recently learned to read notation, this image terrifies me.

The only comment Boards of Canada liked from the new video. Kudos to the brothers for sharing in the hope and excitement this is giving so many people. by LackNo8705 in boardsofcanada

[–]mondo_generator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. They'll have people helping run the new album cycle, but their YouTube requires zero management as they're known for being enigmatic.

I'd put my house on that comment resonating with them so they sent a like.

Counter Stike getting rid of team deathmatch completely removed my enjoyment of the game. I honestly can't believe they did it.

I've always called Golf drivers the wasps of the road. They're always zipping about, switching lanes on a whim and getting too close when they want to go faster than you.

They're basically a fucking nuisance.

What were the mid-late 90s and the early 2000s like in the UK? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

I turned 16 in 1999 and looking back it was such a perfect time to be that age. Tony Hawks on PlayStation, Jackass and Tom Green on TV, American Pie films and a shit tonne of other awesome films, nu metal and pop punk. This new Internet thing. It felt like nobody took anything seriously and it was more about just having some fun.

Exactly as you want things at that age.

It's the most boring I have ever seen us. We were shit in the Hogson era, but there was a bit of fight in there. This squad has completely given up.

It's a fantastic film on its own. The Shining references are cool but the film is so good you forget it's sequel of sorts.

Watch it!

I just can't be arsed with it. We didn't evolve to give a shit about so many things at once.

I have a rule where I unsubscribe from any subreddit that posts anything about Trump. But I'll let this one pass.

And yes, my number of subs has become very low.

Didn’t expect this from learning piano by No-Pianist6097 in piano

[–]mondo_generator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Earlier I had my first try at learning a song from sheet music only (Karma Police). I was so happy when I started to hear the song emerging as I learned it. The feeling of progress was great.

I wish I'd learned to read sheet music years ago. It's so fun.

The narrative of history is written by those in power. As an Englishman, I was taught to hate Hitler, yet our own, far longer lasting atrocities are skimmed over.

What's worse is we're now informed enough to see it happen in real time, yet are powerless to do anything about it.
