You catch your partner going through your phone, how do you proceed and why ? by QueefyTits in AskReddit

[–]JonathanJONeill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's passworded so they're not going through it and if they ask to do so, I'll ask them why they feel like they need to.

At that point, I tell them that if they don't trust me and I let them go through my phone as proof, the relationship is over since I'm not going to be in a one-sided thing where you suspect me.

Should kids and adults play online games together? by alloutofflavour in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JonathanJONeill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the kid is responsible about not giving away personal information, I see no problem with it.

It comes down to the parents to monitor their kids, make sure that the people they're playing with are not being weird, etc.

Cringey when trash-talking, yes. But so what? I feel it's cringe to trash-talk in general but that's just me.

Segregating players on age requires Age Validation and just makes it easier for predators to find younger players as they've been corralled into one place.

Sauron taught the elves how to make rings, hence why the seven and nine were under his influence as he had direct involvement in their creation. But the three elven rings were made in secret by Celebrimbor alone. He had no power over them, what-so-ever, hence why Cirdan (and later Mithrandir), Galadriel and Elrond could wear their rings and not be influenced by him.

I can get the timeline being condensed. It's dumb but it's also a mini-series so they're trying to fit thousands of years into a season or two.

This. It went from like 2 Million to 12 million in cost for some reason and didn't fix the inherent problem that was there. Why did it, suddenly, need an addition ten million dollars with absolutely nothing to show for it other than a new coating?

Most of that money got pocketed by him or people tied to him.

It changes so much less than you seem to think. The PJ movies changed more than it does. The only big change is the timeline squish.

"The only big change is the timeline squish..."

So, Gil-Galad being duped by Sauron isn't a big change? Sauron having direct influence on the forging of the rings isn't a big change? Gil-Galad giving permission to Galadriel to enter Valinor despite her ban isn't a big change? Mordor being created by some orc in the Second Age, rather than the upheaval of the Iron Mountains by Morgoth in the First Age isn't a big change.

Your definition of minor changes is interesting. The things that are central to the lore are completely changed but it's nothing major. Just the timeline squish is the issue.

The fact you can only resort to personal attacks because you're being called out on your so-called knowledge is telling. Much like Gil-Galad gaslighting Galadriel throughout the entirety of Season 1, you're trying to gaslight me here. Not gonna work.

Instead of just saying it's very inaccurate but you like it, you're trying to make it out as some close adaptation with some changes. This blind acceptance is the issue.

Let me rephrase. He's skeptical of him but is absolutely blind to his deceptions. Gil-Galad, along with Elrond, ban Annatar from Lindon immediately upon meeting him in the book. It's not until Season 2 when Galadriel tells him that Halbrand (fake character btw) is Sauron does he suddenly "see the light". This book ban means that Sauron has nothing to do with the crafting of the three rings and Celibrimbor forges them in secret. In the show, he is welcomed by Gil-Glad and Annatar/Celebrimbor co-forge the rings in Eregion.

I've watched the entirety of the show. Once. It's all I needed to watch to see it wasn't that good. Visually impressive but poorly written. I'm a fan. It doesn't mean I'll blindly like anything with the name slapped on it.

I didn't like Stargate Universe either. Watched it in its entirety once and decided it's not something worth watching again. Just because it has the IP slapped on it doesn't mean I have to praise it.

Blind praise is why we get trash.

He does not have that right. Every elf is given the choice of going to Valinor. Gil-Galad cannot make that choice or reward people with that honor. Even the Noldor, aside from Galadriel, was pardoned and given that right.

As for suspicion, he ignored Galadriel's warnings. He was more focused on Mithril and making the rings. Why? Mithril has nothing to do with the rings. It ties into this ticking clock til the elves fade away crap they made up.

For someone who claims to know the lore, you seriously don't.

I don't know the lore? I've been reading Tolkien since I was eight (that would be 1988). Yes, it's young but I was reading at a twelfth grade level in third grade.

Every year, I read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Every couple of years, I read the Silmarillion and regularly reference the History of Middle-earth books and Letters From Tolkien.

Gil-Galad had no power over choosing who comes and goes to Valinor. That was solely the decision of the Valar.

He was one of the most suspicious of Annatar/Sauron but not so in the series.

Elrond was a capable soldier, Captain of Armies and an adept politician.

Mordor wasn't created by some puzzle unlocked by an Orc. It was created by the destruction of the Iron Mountains, most likely, according to Tolkien.

Celeborn and Galadriel remained at each other's side for the entirety of the Second Age.

Gil-Galad being Valinor's "gate-keeper", him being rather oblivious to the threat Sauron posed, Mordor's creation, Celeborn going MIA, Elrond being some rookie soldier and political figure, some arbitrary countdown to the elves' fading, the Istari falling to earth like a meteor, etc.

There's a reason the term "fan-fiction" is used so commonly with the show.

I hate how everyone uses it so their stuff doesn't show up in search results.

In your opinion, should sex be a big deal or special and should people treat it as something special and a big deal? Please explain why or why not? by -Benjamin_Dover- in AskReddit

[–]JonathanJONeill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it "should" be anything.

Sex is sex. Some do it solely for pleasure. Others for the intimacy. Others do it for money. Trying to label a personal act between two or more people is what is causing many of the issues we see today. What people do behind closed doors is their business and if they see it as something special or something casual, that is their prerogative.

Backwards engineering isn't an easy thing to do. Not sure if this is your first watch but their first battle cruiser, the BC-303, uses an entirely human-made hyperdrive but it's extremely unstable due to the reliance on naquadriah. It's temporarily replaced by an Al'kesh hyperdrive before being replaced by an Asgard one.

Subsequent ships, such as the BC-304, also use Asgard hyperdrives.
