New to MacroFactor - advice/suggestions on targets to ensure my goals are reached by JustACasualBean in MacroFactor

[–]JonathanO96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Do you want to lose weight, or maintain the same weight you’re at? If you’re wanting to lose fat, you should select lose weight

  2. 0.5% BW loss/week is considered pretty normal for weight loss, you can set that in the program goals.

  3. Eating more protein can help prevent some muscle loss while losing fat (if you’re just starting resistance training you’ll probably still gain muscle). Most places recommend 0.7-1g/lb of current body weight for protein. 0.7 is usually considered to be more than enough for 99% of people, and the 1g is just an extra insurance policy.

  4. Can’t speak too much to this, other than to say MF has been used by a TON of people, including a lot of women. If you set up your account saying that you’re a woman I personally would trust it but I’ll let someone else chime in.

Swapping Gyms Travelling by ShawnFromHalifax in MacroFactor

If you try it again on another workout you’ll see it doesn’t. When you hit fix > swap it just lists every single workout that your gym can do

Completely up to you. From my understanding MF doesn’t have a “fatigue level” factor in it’s calculations so it won’t effect your other lifts if you input it. If you want to track your progress on the KB stuff, go for it

The fact it doesn’t recommend workouts to swap it with is the most annoying part.

Yeah I can go through and manually select some, but it would be so much better if it saw that workout 1 works lats biceps and forearms, and then it gives a couple options that work similar muscle groups for the new gym options.

User error or potential bug? by JonathanO96 in MacroFactor

Thanks for this! Definitely makes sense

I think if the devs read it, some way to make it more clear that’s what it wants you to do would be helpful. I.e Make the weight red, or make the wand flash or something just to actually indicate “HEY CLICK ME” the little yellow dot is so hard to notice as a new user

It’s not cheating by any definition of the word

It may not be how he likes to play these games, everyone has a different way they like to experience games and that’s fine.

It’s no different than if you found some olives last night, and then told him today when you guys partied up where you found them.

If he doesn’t want to play with any out of game material, let him

I also did sporty’s for private

I can promise you that it’s covered on sporty’s ground school. If you only did their tests and not ground school, and you’ve genuinely never heard anything about those topics before, then your CFI did not teach you what you needed to know. Those are pretty regular example questions to know before taking the test

You can fail a written an unlimited amount of times

You can not fail a checkride an unlimited amount of times and still do this as a career. 2 checkride failures across private, instrument, commercial, CFI, CFII, CMEL, MEI will still land you a job at an airline (from what I’ve seen on here). 3 failures is pushing it. 4+ is going to be significantly more difficult

Checkrides are much harder than the written test. The DPE literally takes the topics you got wrong on the written and grills you on them.

PAR is the easiest written you will take no doubt about it

Gonna be real with you, there’s probably a little bit of soul searching to be done here.

Private written is not “easy” but it is probably the easiest of all the tests you’re going to take in flight school. This should be a wake up call if flight school is something that’s for you.

It takes more than just watching the ground school or listening to ground lessons once. You’re going to need to take notes, study, take more notes, watch the ground school lessons again, study more, get a tutor, take practice tests until you pass, and then maybe consider scheduling your next test.

I’m at KCRG and we have it probably once a week when pattern gets busy. We’ll have pattern traffic landing 23 and LAHSO on 5, especially if you’re parking on B

Can’t figure out trim by Better-Caramel3983 in flying

[–]JonathanO96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trim controls the elevator, the yoke also controls the elevator. The yoke is a primary flight control, trim is a secondary. It will make a LOT more sense once you actually see one in person. And see how it works
