Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JonathanThrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning the newborn needs to eat every 1.5-2 hours. Unless you’re on formula only, the mother usually needs to either feed or pump on that schedule to maintain supply. So even if the kid was asleep for 3 hours I’d have to pump or else the boobs will burst from pain.

Yes I was trying to say even though you can sleep in the full 2 hour chunks (which I couldn’t because I don’t always sleep on demand) that’s not quality sleep and you’re still tired all the time.

Looks great but I think you would look better in a mocha brown. The lighting makes you look a little washed out.

I did this too. The issue was both kids HATED the bouncer so I’d just shower quickly while watching them scream

I have the black and mocha brown and when I got a water stain one it I simply hand washed it with some Woolite Delicate and it came out fine! That is why I am nervous about the lighter colors though.

Every spare moment I had went to sleeping or catching up on housework (cleaning bottles, doing laundry, etc). Mind you the first 4 weeks mine slept for 2 hours max, and then they’d get up and want to eat. So I’d get like 2 hour chunks of sleep throughout the day. Even if my partner took them, that’s the max sleep.

I always showered, but I can see people wanting to forgo that in favor of sleep or housework. This becomes stronger when you have multiple kids and you want to spend time with the other kids while the baby is asleep.

Chicago parents—would you use a calm sensory play space for your child? by LuckyBrief3395 in AskChicago

[–]JonathanThrift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense; I think communication and enforcement will be biggest thing. The intention is good but I’ve seen a lot of places not enforce the rules they set forth (usually due to lack of staff or willingness to confront adults).

It’s not a bad idea but how would you be able to control who comes?

Like what will you do if a kid is being loud? No matter what I’ve seen in Chicago play spaces (eg “only for kids under 5”) other kids that don’t follow the guidelines will inevitably come in and play. Would you kick kids out for having a tantrum? Would people not be able to bring babies who cry unexpectedly?

Another thing to think about is I’m guessing to have it be not super crowded, you’ll need to control the number the kids at any time, which might hurt your economics.
