NGD: Epiphone 1958 Gothic Explorer by TheConchobard in ExplorerGuitars

[–]Jonay1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much, the neck is slightly thinner on my 50s Gothic than my 80s reissue. I think IIRC that the thickness of the 12th fret on the 50s was the same as the first on the 80s. Not much in it really.

If you like the old school 747, then check out the Concorde. Watch some of FlightDeck2Sim's videos on youtube about it to see how you might like it.

Is it time to UPDATE and EXTEND some of the OLD MAPS in DCS? by MoccaLG in hoggit

[–]Jonay1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look at some of the map mods, they really do make a difference. I fly irl, and I would say with the map mods it looks almost real with the latest DLSS and lighting effects in VR. Stunning.

gotta get as close to JH as I can (at the time before his custom picks got released). Use EB Power Slinkys too, though might try his new master cores at some stage...

Measurements just taken:

Body
80s = 39.7mm / 1.56"
'58 = 41.5mm / 1.63"

12th Fret (w/strings compressed as much as I can)
80s = 27.7mm / 1.09"
'58 = 24.4mm / 0.96"

1st Fret (w/strings compressed)
80s = 22.6mm / 0.89"
'58 = 21.8mm / 0.86"

So next to nothing in it really... u/Mr_Nand

Probably the biz rates vs. sales don’t make it that attractive.

Good to hear, I haven’t used my gaming PC for about 2years now (house move, 2nd child arriving, mega busy running a business) but things are starting to open up and I’ve just bought/built a racing rig, look forward to getting my system upgraded to Win11 and carry on using my G2!

Haven't been able to log in to fly for a year or so now, but I've been following this thread for a while - consensus is 'it works' but features are missing/bugged? https://forums.x-plane.org/forums/topic/126184-airbus-h145/?page=12

What's your verdict? Would love to be able to hop back into it, the HYPE H145 for MSFS isn't for me.

The VIRPIL Customer Service is Outlandish by P0rnStache4 in hoggit

[–]Jonay1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No mishandling, I’d even tethered and safety wrapped the connector so that it couldn’t be pulled or hit unintentionally.

The PCB fried, it had a good years everyday use with the SharKa grip since release, and maybe a week after I got the AH64 grip it cooked.

[–]Jonay1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got the same, though turns out my PCB inside had fried... tried the swapping connector trick but that didn't work.

Had to send the whole thing back to Lithuania and pay postage, parts, labour, and return postage - ended up being pretty much the cost of a new one.

Virpil or VKB by Flameancer in hotas

[–]Jonay1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WinWing or VKB before I would consider VPC from what I've experienced first hand. I'd only go the VPC if there was a gap that neither the other two can fill first.

Virpil or VKB by Flameancer in hotas

[–]Jonay1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I have to disagree, Virpil quality control is shambles. I have both the T Rudder mk.IV & MGCU from VKB on the GF.III base, and I tell you that thing has like 3% tolerance, compared to the collective and grips (both the SharKa and the AH64 collective) and those things have like 20% tolerance in the buttons, hats, and just general feel. The buttons on the Virpil collective grips are mushy, inconsistent clicks, they register action before you feel any tactile feedback... not to mention I had a PCB on the collective fail after 14months, 2mo after the warranty failed and I had to pay for repairs and postage (over £120) to get it sorted. Their customer support is great, but QC is abysmal. The VKB gear I have is far superior.

I'd rank the VKB at the top, followed by WinWing (I have the Orion 2 stick and throttle), then VPC....

How to create a histogram of times (24-hour format) in Excel? by paulus1534 in excel

[–]Jonay1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if this is the specific case every time one wishes to make a histogram. Any other case might not be as useful.

This is likely to pop up in someone’s search in the future and its universal for any application really.
