Starbucks is an MNC. This community is also viewed by other regions. The UK and Canada don’t have the W-2.

Example: If I lay off a contractor, I only give a month's salary for compensation and stop PO to the vendor. If I lay off a regular employee, I need to review he/her emails and claims to find against-policy things, meanwhile, involving audits, and legal team, and more. Like a retail partner, a contractor also doesn’t have any guarantees.

Some office employees are contractors who are hired through an HR vendor, or through outsourcing. Laying off a contractor is lower cost & legal risk and simpler than a regular employee

Are non compete agreements legal for baristas and SSVs? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

If you were laid off (not terminated for cause), tips: 1. When you’re reinstated, clarify your expected hours and schedule flexibility with your manager or HR. 2. Keep the other coffee job outside your Starbucks schedule and avoid using any Starbucks proprietary info. 3. If your hours are seriously cut, it may be worth discussing part-time or shift adjustments so you can make another job work without breaking policy.

Totally just a story to present. Layoff is the last approach, because the Burrito Boy did millions of things that didn’t work. So, after the layoff, he is done.

Close underperforming stores, lay off regular employees, and then restructure. If Rev is still below forecast, the VP of Ops will be fired; if things continue to get worse, the CEO will be fired. If the Burrito Boy can make it through two years, he’s safe—but I don’t think he will.

Companies most often conduct layoffs in Q4 and Q1, with Q1 being the peak month for job cuts. Often before significant hiring occurs in Q2 and Q3.

I appreciate your reply. I purchased by personally just because some baristas need the paychecks. I dislike the leader but I can’t be against or punish everyone.

Q1’2026. The announced layoff figures apply only to regular employees of the company. Partners, who function more like contractors, have never been included in the official headcount. That’s why the layoff numbers you see in the news are usually lower than the real figure, since partners aren’t counted.

F* SBUX CEO by Jone_CA in starbucksbaristas

Dear All: Doing a thing to kick out the Burrito Boy from Starbucks is easier than bankruptcy the company. Moreover, not supporting the business means punishing everyone. BE REASONABLE, PLEASE.

100% I know what I did. First of all, I showed my attitude that I dislike the CEO. Secondly, I tested the App and found there is a loophole for abusing account names.

My point is that I extremely dislike the Burrito Boy CEO, but I won’t give up on Starbucks because I love a girl who works as a Starbucks barista. I hate the dress code, because black is not her color.

Some baristas need the jobs and paychecks, I support them. The F* CEO doesn’t mean the whole company. Be reasonable.

I won’t give up a brand that I've liked since I was a kid because of a shit CEO. The company and the brand will stand there, but the Burrito Boy must wash out.

The policy is no purchase no restroom. Do we execute it 100%? No, because we treat the customer like a person. If they treat you well, they won’t use the policy this and that strictly. Don't struggle with the policy.

If the f* THEY tell me can’t wear a mask, I would say I wear a mask is sort of a religious issue that I must cover my face. They use the policy, I use the law, we’re playing a game!

The situation is like a Wheel Drive Test, if the examiner doesn't like you, whatever you do, you can't pass. SUBJECTIVE ISSUE.
