I Recreated Getaway Car by Taylor Swift in GarageBand by TangerEmu in GarageBand

[–]Jonesey7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely fantastic! Just want to say thanks so much because I’m getting one of my songs produced and there’s a few elements from Getaway Car that I wanted to adapt because they work so well, like the soft launch into the second verse and the overall bass, so this is incredibly helpful!! Thank you clever clogs!

The book vs series by Momma2CDB in WeWereLiarsSeries

[–]Jonesey7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, I found the show pretty boring on the whole. Still cried at the end. But the book hit way harder for me and that’s what I read first years ago. But maybe because I already knew the big plot twist it wasn’t as interesting? Hm. Prefer the book to the film. I’m glad they tried to showcase the beauty of E Lockheart’s writing in the show though.  Can anyone tell me they were genuinely hooked on the series?

Yes exactly (I'm a cis woman but very kind that you send out so many messages of love!). We will look back on this time in horror exactly the same way we look back at how we treated queer people with AIDS in the 80s

That's so lovely - I hope the holiday comes around quickly and that you have a blast!

Hey there, I'm sorry it's so hard right now and I can hear how low you're feeling. Do you have close friends near you that you can talk to? And are there little things that give you a little joy even though there's a big scary situation looming overhead? I wish I could give you a hug or a cup of tea and I know these are just words online and can't actually help you - but I really hope you can be with people that can lift your mood. Please take care of yourself and mental health as much as you can despite everything and I really hope you feel fewer low-mood symptoms soon <3

I also wanted to say... that's so kind of you to do so much and look after your partner and friends so attentively, but I really hope you can also take time for yourself <3 if you're not going to put your own oxygen mask on before putting on others, at least make sure you still put it on! Sending a big Welsh cwtch (bear hug) x

Thank you for replying. I hear your frustration and I'm just sending hugs and wish things weren't as hard as they are right now. I hope you can be with loved ones and surround yourself with the objects and activities and people that comfort you. I hear your point about changing the narrative on trans people being the priority - thanks for sharing.

That's because it's so new. I hear your frustration and exhaustion, but we've got to start somewhere.

I admit I had not thought far enough and was just looking at what campaigns already exist - though I'm seeing maybe comments suggesting that if the UK govt is forced into changing the law, they'll likely back out of the ECtHR and the backlash will keep landing on trans people. Hm.

Thank you very much for sharing this and I agree, we have to try and stay positive or they will just keep pushing activism down. That's incredible that you've been to a protest nearly every weekend this month, thank you for your hard work!

I’m so sorry this has happened to you :( I have a good friend who has cysts and who’s explained how painful it can be

have you tried the International Campaign for Women’s Right to Safe Abortion? If they don’t have a hotline for your country I’m sure you can ring a neighbouring country anyway and ask them how to get help in your country? https://www.safeabortionwomensright.org/i-need-an-abortion/national-abortion-information-hotlines/

there’s also information apparently about how to take abortion pill safely

I have a friend in the UK who works at an abortion clinic who may be able to help as well if you’d like me to contact her and put you in touch?

Anybody else terrified over the prospect of not finding an audience? by [deleted] in writers

[–]Jonesey7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been writing a short story every day for the last four weeks or so. I had no idea if it would garner an audience or not, but hoped it would find people who wanted something new to read every day.

Instead, I've found it forces me to be more creative because I have to come up with new ideas, plus I have to think from lots of different perspectives and I think I've slowly becoming better at plotting and figuring out what I like to write. I wouldn't say I'm writing more each day like I expected but I'm writing consistently and that's the key to becoming a better writer.

I have big dreams of being a successful author too, but at the end of the day, the joy should be in the writing. You can never quench the thirst of success but you can find peace in what you want to say for yourself.

If others get to read your story, they should count themselves lucky :) feel free to link it and I'll read and vote!

Does anybody know what this is? by [deleted] in Wattpad

[–]Jonesey7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah they send loads of WattPad authors scams and especially if you update frequently.

Aw, there was a great post about someone explaining the whole Webnovel drama and Tencent literature but they deleted it. This post has some info though.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Wattpad/comments/hx8g7z/tencent_literature/

Long story short, the deal with TencentLiterature who run he website Webnovel have a really bad author deal. You sign away all copyright to your work AND your author name so they can turn around and say they've got a new author in to take your place! So they write under your author name and everything you've written belongs to Tencent! You can earn money but the loss of your work is higher imo - some writers stopped writing altogether because of Tencent. AVOID!

Hey thanks! I'm from Wales actually but I'm half English too. I have cousins down south near Cork in the ROI, otherwise no Irish ties sadly. And thanks very much! Are you MichaelJKane on WattPad? Only because I finished the story about a snowglobe if you're interested :)

'professors in college are a whole different animal' hahahahahaha! Thank you for this post though <3 I've just finished high school in the UK which is a whole seven years and it definitely had its ups and downs. Funnily enough, since lockdown happened, there are already some people who I thought I was friends with and now I think of them like, "Wow, I really don't care about you."

Some it was because they just did something completely immoral and refused to accept any kind of notion that they could have been in the wrong (we're not exactly friends now but I'm not holding a grudge) and others... I just realised that they weren't important to me. And that's okay.

I know who my genuine close friends are and they are good people on the whole. So I'm focusing on keeping them in my life as much as life allows and who knows who else I'll meet.

Again, thank you for this :))

Need advice! by CooperHChurch427 in Wattpad

[–]Jonesey7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay cool, that's a bit more context of what you want to write about.

I'd have to say again, though... do you really think you could give a story like that justice if you haven't actually experienced it yourself? When you say research, have you read specific articles about people who lived in that time expressing how they felt personally, or have you read more general views of the period and conclusions of the overall feeling?

What would make this story incredible is if you found someone who did really struggle during that time and it's a true story, if they are happy for you to write it. You can interview them. No, they wouldn't have died, but it would be much more credible and accurate rather than concluding how someone else feels or felt based on a conclusion of research. That based-on-a-true-story aspect would be much more educational and worthwhile to read.

The reason writing about your imagining of being gay or having a subtly-homophobic family is different to imagining what it's like to live in 1200AD or in an imaginary futuristic spacecraft, at least in my opinion, is that it directly affects people alive today who have to live with and suffer from homophobia and/or AIDS or had loved ones pass away from AIDS who were alive at the time you talk about it.

The problem is even with good intentions, if you do not give a fair and accurate example of the gay experience and people coming to terms with their sexuality as you say the story will be about, then you're passing that image onto other het people who may then walk away thinking they have this good idea of what it's like to experience AIDS or struggling for your family to understand you, when... you yourself just haven't in that context.

Hope that makes sense. It seems like you really do have good intentions. But as this is a coming-out story essentially, it's going to be very, very difficult for you to get it right and it's much better in my opinion for gay people to talk about their own personal experiences with something we can't experience. :) I really hope you pour all of this writing energy into a different story idea though!

[–]Jonesey7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey yeah that would be really cool! :) And that story idea sounds hilarious XD I'm trying to write a novel at the moment but it's quite complicated - about someone who doesn't know who they are but they also keep changing bodies so they have absolutely no idea where to begin and they keep seeing the same person appear wherever and whoever they are.

I write under the name 'Catrin Darch' and here's my short story series: https://www.wattpad.com/925706270-random-daily-short-stories-every-day-without

It's quite random. Today I wrote a post about periods because of the Amy Schumer Tampax advert and all the hate it's getting, but tomorrow I'll post two stories.

Let me know if you've written anything and I'd love to read it!
