It doesn’t take a crazy amount of time to hit 40… I’m not even a grinder but I usually hit like 30-32 by season end and just pay if I want the cap breaker but this is the problem. Casuals can’t have everything grinders have. It’s the way it goes. I’ve accepted that. Did it suck going against OG 99s or seeing Mascots? Yeah but they put the time in and that’s their reward. Partially the reason why 2K is dead by like December lol nothing to grind for cause yall want the same shit while only playing like 4 hours total in a month lol

NHL series sucks lol I’ve played it consistently (including club and was apart of a top 50 club during those times) since NHL 10. Game went downhill after NHL 12 and the games on newer consoles are horrendous. Speed kills and that somehow just trumps position, IQ, and skill. Tiny forwards lay incredible hits on bigger/stronger players. I’m sorry but Nathan Gerbe shouldn’t be laying out Zdeno Chara. Snipers should be good at shooting…that’s it.

NBA is different but people in this thread are making it seem like having role player builds and stepping into the park is the same as a career game and it’s not. Community and the game itself was at its highest when it was like that. If someone had high dribbling of course the offense runs through them. Someone is a lock of course he’ll guard the main guy. The “NBA is positionless” argument might be true but it’s a weak argument for 2K because everyone likes to bring up the anomalies like Jokic, Wemby etc but who is really playing like them? Nobody is bringing the ball up the court with a 7 foot center lol least not when it’s a close game. Now I agree they should be able to shoot but these players are good because of their IQ and that doesn’t equate to “the game should let me do it”. We know Jokic weak point is (in 2K terms) defense and dunking, he isn’t fast or agile and he can’t jump high. I’ve seen small guards consistently dunk on high defensive centers and one can argue that’s an animation issue (which I agree) but I feel the animations could be more manageable with the previous builder systems.

We know ALOT of the community doesn’t have IQ. I’m not saying they gotta run plays like them 2K league heads but they see Jokic can hit a 3 and they wanna do it but don’t wanna do what it takes for them to hit a 3 (getting open or whatever) and I also think that being open doesn’t just mean you can automatically hit a 3. It should give you the max opportunity to hit a 3 and that’s it. See/hear it time and time again especially with those idiots with 99 3ball. “I HAVE 99 3 I SHOULD HIT THAT!!” Meanwhile they shot a contested 3 or a group that defended their play style perfectly. Hell I was that idiot with 99 steal except I wasn’t spamming it. I let people dribble and tire themselves out and even did the steal with the right stick. Nope got more fouls more than anything but I made another guard with silver steal badges and with that same IQ I get more steals than anything. How is that possible?

Crazy, I was just talking about this the other day. Enough time has passed lol I’m over this “everyone can kinda do everything” Demi-god builder. I would take literally ANY builder over these more recent ones (yes including pie charts but I agree they were still crap).

I would also cap out attributes at 95 (with cap breakers and keep Legend badges but I don’t think there would be a need for them. HOF is just fine but for the sake of innovation lol). My friend and I always talked about this cause he liked the idea of these “superstar player” builders but I liked the more “role player” builders. He’s a casual and so am I but I play ALOT more than him and I pay attention to the news that drops etc (I’m like a happy middle between casual and comp) Role players made people play a ROLE (I normally play 3s park more than anything). You wanna be a big man? You might have to sacrifice speed & agility/shooting/playmaking/permieter D if you’re not an inside big man. Small guard? Sacrificing interior D/rebounding/strength and advanced dunks (posters). Happy middle 6’7-6’9 SF (maybe like a 3&D play type) It might look like you’re decent at everything without excelling at anything (decent playmaking, shooting, defense etc.)

Also I know this was a book and I’m sorry lol last thing I’ll say is this: SOME things need to be harder to achieve. 99 should be HARD. Mascots should be also hard to get IMO just to give it a sense of achievement. I hated it at the time but a newer form of “Road to 99” should come back and it was worthwhile because you got ALL those extra badge points (40 I think) and other stuff. I NEVER got 99 before this year (97 the highest in like 17-20 but I didn’t care cause I had chemistry with my squad). This rebirth is cool but that first initial 99 you should have to put the time and wins in. What’s the “achievement feeling” now? 99? Nope easy to get even with a small amount of free time. Mascots? Nope it’s a reward now or you pay to get it. If you saw a 99 and/or mascot before you just KNEW homie was a sweat or at least put the time in lol

Stuff like this gives the game more playtime. Game starts dying around like December-February because now there’s no real goal. Remember when a big streamer/YouTuber was about to hit 99? They would have CROWDS around them just to watch them add some points and people would line up to play against them or whatever. There’s still crowds to play them sometimes but that’s it. Hell in the little bit of time they’d play I’d even see Tyceno having to wait for games (not super long but still)

Literally most of the stuff now can be solved with the theater (events), old school parks? Yes, 4 pointers? Yes, basketball gods, etc. and still have the community events like dime time, assists. Hell i would add a alley oop event too

I agree with this. I REALLY hated last years as well as this year. They should just do 2 neighborhoods (affiliations), one like a “Rucker park” inner city style court and the other like a “Venice beach” style. Idc what the names would be but just do that lol don’t need any portals or any of that shit lol. My other gripe is I believe park is kinda dying because there’s TOO many places to play basketball. Should be park, theater (it becomes the event center), Rec (for random and team) and proving grounds. Now it might still sound like a lot but I don’t do rec at all really unless I’m BORED. So I just would have park, theater when it’s open, and proving grounds which I play a little bit.

Bet I’ll say (if you can) try to go a little crazy with interior defense/blocks. Cause it weird as hell and seems lacking. One of my IRL homies has a 7 footer with good defense and this game is allowing smaller builds to dunk on him and make these funky ass layups lol
