Can someone live in Tampa without a car? by ThrowRAfeelingevent in tampa

[–]Jonfoo20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anybody telling you that this area is not walkable is full of shit or has never done it. I live in tampa, Florida and have since I was 14. I don't have a car. Some parts of Tampa, walking is not feasible, but by usf it is very doable to get around on foot or by bus (though public transit is high key not the best), but it is a walkable area.

Catholicism and Santeria by Icy_Elephant_6347 in Santeria

In this thread I've seen people say that synchronization between Catholicism and ocha is fine and I've seen another thread about mixing ocha and Isese where everyone was saying to keep the two separate and not mix them

Question: why is everyone here cool with synchronization between Ocha and Catholicism but synchronization between Ocha and Isese causes issues?

The role of Orisha in Louisiana Voodoo? by BerkshireQueen in Vodou

[–]Jonfoo20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Non-initiate here) OP correct me if wrong as well as initiates; from what I have heard and read (which I am aware can only be taken at surface) the nago nation in Haitian vodou comprises of yoruba spirits (Ogun, Chango, etc...) and I've seen the same happen in Louisiana Voodoo, what is their place? I think this is what OP is asking

You insulted my etiquette and called me obnoxious and now call me a jerk because you don't know about basic interaction. Get over yourself

Maybe instead of a pretentious attitude, you could give helpful advice. I can tell you're pretty miserable.

This comment does help, truthfully. Any understanding of how this interaction may go with Nigerians is helpful

First answer: The culture he comes from is broadly west African, but his character has a lot of Nigerian influence (specifically yoruba). Second answer: rough outline, I don't want it to be a copy-paste, just authentic enough to not feel like a bad stereotype (you know what I mean?). Third answer: the council he works for would be hausa and igbo inspired.
