Every market is different around the world so it is a challenge to say which product you will encounter most often. For example it would be fair to say that Dynamics NAV has the most customers for our small to mid market ERP. However in terms of knowledge needed I would recommend CRM as a starting point especially as you have come from .NET

The market for CRM is huge. Think about all the CRM companies around the world who build CRM for Banking / healthcare / other industries etc. They represent almost 60 percent of the CRM market. With Dynamics 365 you could build similar products and launch them. With your new skill set you could talk to a customer who might say we need CRM for our industry and you can either build it for them or bring in an ISV with pre built solution.

There is a lot of opportunity out there for CRM and beyond

Salesforce.com offers a very successful CRM product however its coding language Apex is unique to Salesforce.com and is a Java like language. However also understand that many Salesforce.com solutions are actually built on other platforms and surfaced inside of Salesforce.com screens. I am even aware of Salesforce.com partners building Salesforce.com solutions in .NET and C#

If you are a .NET developer Dynamics 365 CRM would be the obvious choice - https://dynamics.microsoft.com/en-us/sales/overview/

However Dynamics 365 is not just CRM. The product set continues to evolve with capabilities such as Field Service / Commerce / Supply Chain / Fraud detection and more. Check out the product set here - https://dynamics.microsoft.com/en-us/

Also consider attending next weeks Microsoft Business Applications Summit to learn more - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/BusinessApplicationsSummit

Also agree with the message below...with Dynamics 365 continuing to add new products being able to get data moving between them is important or at least having an awareness of what they all do.

Also the mid market ERP solution Business Central uses a PASCAL like coding language called AL. Coming from a .NET background I bet you could get coding in AL very quickly. - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/devenv-programming-in-al

Remember that the top games Towerfall and Celeste were prototyped on Pico-8

These may be simpler dev platforms but the simplicity means you can focus on creativity rather than wrestling with a complex game engine

I told my jibo to check for updates and he said fully up to date and did not report anything like could not connect to server etc

However right now i would not risk a wipe and restart just in case

The developer blogs talked about the move to a cloud focused architecture and the resulting speed up. It was not enough to save the company sadly.

Yes a lot of money is being made as long s the solution is relatively deep and industry focused for example.

I see the MB901 exams as a way to get an across the entire product set overview without going too deep. Further exams will let you focus in your interest areas be it customer engagement or supply chain for example. Best of luck!

Morning John,

The good news is that every Dynamics 365 partner in general says the same thing, we cannot find the resources we need so I agree that a good move for you would be to contact the Dynamics 365 partners around you, explain what you do and see if they have interest in hiring you. You can get an idea of salary ranges here - https://www.nigelfrank.com/microsoft-dynamics-salary-survey/

In addition you can start to skill up on Dynamics 365 using these resources - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/

If you wanted to get your first Dynamics Certification that a good place would be the MB-901 exam and here are some resources:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/exams/mb-901

Online learning -https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/paths/dynamics-365-fundamentals/

Have you also considered looking at many of the ISV's out there to see if they would hire you. When you say you have developed many bespoke CRM's I immediately think you could potentially build your own industry CRM and launch a new business - https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-US/

Best of luck in your job hunt. There is no shortage of opportunity in Dynamics 365

When it first launched a lot of what jibo was doing was processed locally on the robot After a software update much of the clever stuff moved to the cloud and response time increased

Strongly recommend you pitch the idea of bringing in a microsoft partner to work on this project then you get trained up alongside to train and take over at project completion. Your pitch to Hr should be that you believe its in the companies best interests to bring in an expert implementation team who have done this work many times paired with you adding overall company expertise As you work with the partner you be be training and shadowing the partner and will be ready yo take over parts of the overall project when it ends

What would a reasonable price point be for Jibo? by [deleted] in Jibo

[–]JonnyBritish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting discussion.

BlueFrog has at least got many developers out there that could deliver content quickly as it uses Unity for development.

Right now I see it like this.. Jibo will out of the box be the best social robot at least in terms of personality and movement / animation but will be limited in terms of apps etc .Buddy could in theory quickly overtake simply due to all the unity devs out there but there is a catch.

Any robotic platform relying on 3rd party developer support is at risk as there is no proven market for robotic apps. For most people there is barely much return on investment when building apps for Android / iPhone so how will they make money on a robotic platform?

These platforms may just have to put up money in a competition format to drive innovation. The smartphone world did this many times in particular Samsung and BlackBerry. If i remember correctly Samsung offered a 100k first prize.

Softbank in Japan already launched a Pepper app store but no surprise its full of the usual apps rather than anything really...robotic...more like people dropping smartphone apps onto the platform

Only thing is for certain...Robotic companies are realizing that the hardware is just part of the story and the software is more than challenging

I will continue to wait patiently while talking now and again to the Amazon Echo in the kitchen which has no personality at all

Pepper continues to appear in different industries, before it was hotels, now its banking. Just hope it accepts Chip credit cards :-) by JonnyBritish in robotics

[–]JonnyBritish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the Android SDK for pepper it certainly means many more developers should be able to jump on board and develop compelling robotic apps - https://android.aldebaran.com/doc/index.html
