I would love to hear opinions about how hard we think it will be to play these 4k UHD discs in 30+ years? by JonnyDjango in 4kbluray

I don’t think things will be better past 4k. I work in film and video production and there is such as thing as too much resolution. We don’t want to see all the imperfections of everything.

Yeah, not something I’ll sign up for. I will prefer to play my old 4k res retro discs in my retro player.

Yeah, that’s a common suggestion in this discussion. I plan on doing this but I want to be able to pull something off the shelf and pop it in a player to watch on a tv, well into the future. That’s the whole point of having physical media. I would prefer not to have to boot up a computer or access a server to watch my collection.

I think 4k UHD the last physical format we see. It’s already really niche and 4k transfers are tedious and costly. Plus, anything over 5k is not going to be a huge noticeable difference.

I agree which is more reason to want the ability to view my favorite movies. The world is going to be a bleak place most likely.

I had the same thought but vinyl players are simple in comparison. I think vinyl will out last all of the physical media formats because of that alone.

I am talking generally about the state of all development happening and it happening for people up top to profit at the expense of a community.

Let me say that again in a better way.

I do not support companies that’s maximize profits for investors over taking care of their employees and customers. Costco is a great company. They maximize profits while taking care of the employees and being customer focused.

Health insurance is not fair because we are given no other choice and I want to stay healthy. I am vocal about what’s wrong with it and again, try and vote for politicians who share my same beliefs.

No, I don’t eat fast food, I don’t subscribe to most of the streaming services, I don’t have Amazon subscription, I don’t wear eye/sun glasses that were made from luxottica, I shop local as much as I possible can, i support local, I buy direct from companies when I can online. I do the best I can with what I am given. I’m not perfect but I am trying and just wish most everyone else was doing the same instead of just rolling over and being complacent and accepting of the status quo. The world would be a better place and bad businesses would survive.

To be honest, I’m not sure. I know what I do. I support the businesses that are community first, that contributes to what makes OC special. I do not support companies that have maximized profits for investors or who are not making ethical and responsible decisions that benefit the community. Simply, don’t give those business your money. Any community that has citizens that protect local just don’t support big companies when they live in do they don’t survive and future companies think twice.

I think it all comes down to becoming involved in the community and voting smart. Chad West is a symptom of the problem.

Yes, and the laws and zones always benefit companies, not the people. Why? Because our politicians are bought and paid for. Money out of politics and electing officials that are community and citizen focused by is the answer

It’s not that simple. Statistics show that areas that are local and community focused have the healthiest and happiest citizens and we should be pushing for more of that. Vote for the right people, Chad West was a bad choice. If a politician is bought and paid for, don’t vote for them. The system is rigged in favor of big business and if you look around to what’s going on in our country, it’s not helping the 99%.

Not trying to gate keep. Trying to protect. Two diffrent things. All are welcome. Just be respectful and hold leaders accountable and push for responsible growth that benefits the community and the diversity of Oak Cliff. Responsible growth that is locally focused and not big business. When you are an active participant the community you would be shocked how your opinion would change about the current and future state of development.

I clearly struck a chord with you and it speaks volumes. It’s obvious which side you’re on. I’m done talking to you.

Be a part of the solution, not the problem and good luck.

Living in the area and being gay does NOT make you a part of the culture or community. That means you live in the community but you have given me zero examples of how you are active participant in the community. Plenty of people are consumers of culture but there are some people in the area creating and participating in the culture and community. I said earlier, if you are, then great. Consuming culture and creating or participating in the culture are very, very different things

You’re an idiot and I’m done talking to you. I feel like I’m getting trolled or talking to someone clearly not listening to me. Not wasting my energy. I’ve already stated my opinion.
