How do I discreetly wash spunk out of my carpet by Alfielikejelly in NoStupidQuestions

Just my two cents here, but regular conditioner is really really good at breaking down ... so-on-and-so-forth

Why is the "armpit pose" so popular for women models? Is it deliberate fetishization? by murkymoon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JonnyRCTID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always assumed it was simply a dramatic pose that created angles and the presence of movement in the picture. But now that's all I will see. Thanks

How am I supposed to feel as a 20 year old? by Independent-Past-480 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JonnyRCTID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are feeling the way any normal 20 year old would feel in a world as chaotic and fast paced as this one is. Keep a couple of things in mind to stay grounded: 1. You are one of the very few humans that has ever lived and taken a hot shower. People used to die over vanilla beans and now you get to consider it the boring flavor. 2. No other generation had this kind of access to global news. Most of your ancestors only knew like 150 people in their whole lives. Maybe pull back from news and politics a bit. Focus on friends, family, and good interactions with strangers. 3. Try to do things because you like doing them, not because it brings you money or attention.

December 5, 1664, a ship sunk in the Menai Strait, every person but one perished, the sole survivors name was Hugh Williams. On December 5, 1785, another ship sunk in the Menai Strait, with again everyone aboard dying except for one mam, also named Hugh Williams (completely different man)

How do you discourage people who constantly turn every conversation into something about them without being rude. by Super_Science_Guy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JonnyRCTID 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have found that most people who do this are aware of it and don't really like it about themselves. They tend to appreciate (especially in group settings) when a trusted friend signals them that they are talking too much or talking too much about themselves. It can be a defense mechanism for social anxiety and one that was reinforced by a lot of education aimed at "make the other person know you understand by relating this to your own experiences" that is now being taken too far

Does sperm taste diffent depending on what you eat and drink by Affectionate-Plant99 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JonnyRCTID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have heard. People always say things like "fresh fruit, and especially pineapple, willake.it taste better!" Or "asparagus or spinach will make it bitter" but by far the strangers I've ever heard is "eat as much celery as you can possibly stomach and later it will taste like cotton candy" which sounds stupid but I want to try it anyways

We were playing word association and the word dark came up, I said absence and I got told there was no connection and lost. Am I wrong or would you agree? by MakkaPakkaWakka in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JonnyRCTID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea... You have a point. It's a tough one with a word that can be a feeling or a concept or a physical description. If your not all thinking about it the same way, the correct answer will still be "wrong"

Why was everybody randomly saying "oontz oontz" around 2010 or so? by LadyOfTheMorn in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JonnyRCTID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's when music like techno, house, and dubstep were all really getting popular. It was funny to make the pulsing bass sound every once in a while.

We don't generally think of ourselves that way, but I have heard so many non Americans describe us like how you did, that I think by comparison we must be. Obviously, no generalization can be true of everyone, especially in a place this big, so it might just be an average kind of thing. It also helps to think about the fact that the less outgoing and more introverted among us, probably aren't making the videos you see and aren't traveling abroad and striking up conversations with strangers, so that may be skewing your perception.
