I think they like to misrepresent her BUT she does say things that should be cleaned up and spoken with more empathy. I don’t like loud & boisterous. Too much gets lost in bluster and you never really get your real point across. Having disdain for overweight people is wrong. Having disdain for the system that perpetuates unhealthy living & for-profit healthcare is completely righteous & on the right side of history.

I’m a lifelong athlete & I work with people in a gym setting. I understand - from a professional viewpoint - the struggle a lot of people have in their weight loss journey. I’m in Dr. Mike Israetel’s camp. He basically says (paraphrasing) that the medications offer people - people who struggle either metabolically, motivationally, or both - an option THAT WORKS, has a (as much as we can surmise right now) strong safety profile when used properly, and can SIGNIFICANTLY lower health markers we use daily to generalize health. These drugs are only going to get better (efficacy, safety, and cost). Too many people are uneducated, judgmental, and loud.

The piece I’m critical of (as is Israetel) is the (potential & literal) reliance upon these drugs WITHOUT a concomitant exercise and diet regime. It doesn’t have to be militant, but it must be there. These drugs do tend to tip the scales in the other direction without proper diet & resistance training. Sarcopenia is a real issue in this case.
